I came across a large collection of knives in the box in a storage unit I purchased in auction. I didn’t think much of them and have had them for a few years. The first knife is a Harley Davidson 20th anniversary 1971-1991 superglide numbered of 3000…could I get some clarification on the actual meaning of the number per se. is the value of 123/3000 more then 550/3000 or is there be effect in value depending on the number placement? I hope that run on question makes sense to someone

I don't think that knife has any meaningful value, and number is unlikely to make a difference.

There’s a VERY small market for such….mass production of commemorative items is not a highly sought commodity, around here anyway.

Best check various auction sites to get an idea of what they may sell for…

3000 is a lot for a limited edition. The numbers don't really account for much, unless you run into someone that absolutely needs that number and that knife, even then it's usually not much of a premium. As Dawkind mentioned run the model # on Ebay, and look at the sold prices, that will give you the real range for the knife.

If you wish to pursue this further, though I don't know if it will be worthwhile, you'll need to upgrade your membership to the "gold" level or above to discuss values...and, if you decide to, offer any of the knives for sale.

That said, I believe the advice you received above is well taken...and that you should avail yourself of info available on the auction sites. These knives do not get much traction here.
