Well, I acquired a Fiddleback Hunter on the Exchange forum a while ago and I love it!! Andy, I know that it isn't news to you, but you sure make a nice blade. Its coming with me camping in a few weeks and whitetail season just started. So she's gonna be earning her place real soon.

Here's where I could use some help:

I can't decide what I want/need next. I know that I'd like a smaller knife, but I just can't decide which one. I'd like something with a narrower blade than the Hunter. I'm a big fan of the Ladyfinger (I'm sure Andy could testify to several emails already). I'm a trout fisherman and bird hunter so it certainly would get use. But I also like the Hiking Buddy. Its compact, just as an edc should be. It would work well for anything! But then there is the Bushfinger!!

Can you see my dilemma? If you have any of these knives, please share your input.

Andy, Mist, come on, help me out!!

Hiking Buddy! I bought one of the first two for my Dad. It is one of the handiest, best feeling, most useful little blades I've ever beheld. Dad loves his...I wish I'd bought the other one that Andy had at the time and kept it for myself!

I completely forgot that you bought one of the first!! Thanks for the input.

What kind of sheath would you prefer for it? Kydex or leather?

The Bushfinger is absolutely one awesome knife. That said...if I already had a Hunter and was wanting a smaller knife I'd go with the Hiking Buddy too. I actually opted for a Recluse as my next Fiddleback but a Hiking Buddy is next on that list.

The Ladyfinger is an undersold, and underappreciated model due to its non-macho name. I'm not bashing the others by saying this. It'd been a while since I'd made one before Lee's cutlery (he just got 3, give him a call), and I forgot how much I like the model. I wanted to keep all 3.

Andy, I can't begin to imagine how many Fiddleback's you have made but I have to admit that it is nice to hear you say that you wanted to keep all three of your latest Ladyfingers. Whenever you talk about a new batch of knives, it is very obvious that your are proud of them, even excited. That says a lot about the kind of person you are and it is reassuring because the rest of us know you stand behind what you produce. Your passion is very evident for sure.

By the way, do you plan on working up some Hiking Buddys soon? .....just trying to keep my options open :D

The HikingBuddy is a little long for the leather horizontal front right sheath that I like most, like this, from the legendary Talfuchre:

So I would be getting an angled leather inside-the-belt sheath for it if it were mine. Something that would put it at about a 45 degree angle on the right, with the butt sticking up and to the right just above my right front pocket.

Like these:

I'm waiting on another Talfuchre horizontal sheath for the Jade G10 Palmer from Andy, which is about 6.5 inches long. The HikingBuddy is more like 7.5 I think, and would work better in an angled sheath for EDC. A sweet little package it would be, too!

chainring dude, a hiking buddy is too big for horizontal carry? That's how I carry my Hunter. Now you are making me self-conscious!!

Lots of Hiking Buddies coming out soon. No worries.

Yes. I still make knives I like, and want to keep most every one. Thanks for the vote of confidence!!!

LOL! Awesome sheath! Heck no, I've got a Tal horizontal sheath for my Fiddleback Snubnose, but I don't wear it to work. Too big for me means too big to wear into a nice office building/bank/college campus to work on the elevators! Not that it's too big to carry well, just too big to walk past the building sheeple and not get a few nervous looks! :)
