Im new to bladeforums. i just made my account yesterday!
ive used this website alot before making an account, and have looked up my knife.
i really like my Twitch 2, but the bladeplay poses a problem. the knife is strong and ive put alot of pressure on it cutting. therefore, i want to use it. but i dont know if the play is going to get worse. i know there's better brands, but im not looking for recommendations. i'd just like to know if this is normal. its not so bad that i'm gonna send it in for repair, but im not used to having bladeplay out of the box. (it had play before the "pressure cutting")

no i havent. i wasnt even going to bother trying because ive heard that if i do, it will make the SAT slow down. plus, ive also read that it doesnt do anything

Welcome To Blade Forums Blade Boss!
Yep, Blade Play On The SOG Twitch 2 Is Very Normal.
As A Matter Of Fact, I've Never Ran Across A Twitch 2 Without Blade Play.
Don't Worry About It.
Just Keep The Pivot As Tight As Possible Without Making It Too Tight That It Won't Deploy And Lock Up.
This Will Minimize The Blade Play As Much As Possible.
Don't Worry Too Much About The Blade Play Though. It's Not Going To Hurt The Knife, And Isn't Going To Make It Fail.
SOG Knives Are Known For Having Blade Play.

Every SOG I've Owned Has Had Blade Play.

Keep Using The Hell Out Of It. It's A Good Knife. The Blade Play Sucks. But It's A Good Knife.

And Eventually You'll End Up With Other Knives.

Tightening The Pivot DOES Help! Take It From Me.
I Did It With My Twitch 2 When I Had It.
And Did It With My Twitch XL When I Got It.
It May Slow It Down But It Still Deploys Fast And Locks Up Solid While Minimizing Blade Play.

Depends on how loose it is. Most spring assisted knives's pivots should be able to be tightened enough to get rid of the bladeplay without affecting the spring assist feature.

And I don't own a Twitch 2, but on every other knife I own (quite a few), tightening the pivot gets rid of bladeplay

well its good to hear that its normal. i was really loving the AUS 8 and the FFG, especiallt the handles. come to think of it, i love everything about it. BUT the play. well i hope it will last regardless

You Probably Won't Get Rid Of All Of The Blade Play.
It Will Probably Still Have A Miniscule Amount Of Blade Play.
But The Knife Will Last You.
Just Do The Little Things That You Know You Can Do.

Mine had no blade play but the spring inside always broke before I had a chance to really use it. Wound up giving it away and not looking back

It's sad that blade play is NORMAL with a SOG folder. When you can buy $10-$15 dollar knives off ebay that are made in China, Enlan, Navy, Sanremu, for example, that have no bladeplay, then it is a shame for a company like SOG that does nothing to solve the problem.

ive heard that the play is because it's the best compromise of speed with the SAT opening spring. speed, and minimal blade play. you either get speed OR no play. not really both unless 100 dollars is dropped. these knives are 50 ish. theyre still good quality. dont turn away

I don't know about that. Kershaw produces some great under $50 knives with the SpeedSafe mechanism that have no bladeplay in them. I think SOG sells their knives on their reputation, but it has gone downhill since the original Tomcats were around. As long as people accept the bladeplay as normal, then SOG is going to continue to make them that way.

Just so you know, I am not trying to pick a fight with you Bladeboss, nor trying to come down on you as a newbie. And any knife is better than no knife. But I just can't imagine why SOG doesn't respond to this issue, especially as much as it is mentioned, and how it has become synonymous when you say/hear SOG folder's.

I love my Twitch II, but bladeplay is definitely one of the major problems with it. And if you tighten it too much, the weak spring-assist won't work and you have to "violently" flick the thumbstud to make the assist work.

The bladeplay will get worse...

i understand that ur not fighting. i didnt think you were. im not a newbie to KNIVES by any means. ive always collected and loved knives. i meant i was a newbie to Bladeforums

If as your other thread indicates, you can't decide between a SAK and a Twitch for carry, seems noobie-ish to me. ;)

no. haha. im one of those people who babies thier knives, and im not sure how much knives can take. therefore, i ask people who actually arent afraid to use them. unlike me
