I need some help deciding.

Hello all. I don't post much, but read daily, and I know how tiresome these type of posts can be. But I really need help deciding on my next purchase.

I've taken to carrying a smallish fixed blade for work. My first was a custom Sheark Little Mook that I loved. It passed in an accident with a float board, saving my leg in the process. Long story made short: I wasn't paying attention, pryed and held the float board long enough to get my leg out, and it snapped. :(

So I moved on, looking for a tougher small knife. Bought a Swamp Rat Rodent Solution off the Busse forums here and...I hate it. Great ergos, great steel, but lordy have I learned that I dislike coated blades. My Esee 4 just sits for this same reason. (Need to off load some of my knives).

So what I'm looking for is a fixed blade Edc:

Blade: 3-3.5"
Handle: ~4" (nice full grip)
Steel: 3v or something similar, just tough, and can handle some lateral stress...and No coating.

Been looking at some Bark River models (they get hate, but I love mine). interested in the little canadian 3v, ultra light bushcrafter. The little creek, and other mini models sre too small for my tastes.

Other opinions more than welcome.
(As a side question, where can one find some decently priced and made horizontal sheaths for brkt knives?)

I had a stripped and polished Rodent Solution that was a great blade.

Look at a Survive GSO 3.5 or 4.1 if you want something a little bigger.

There's more to the solution than just the coating. The secondary bevel is too thick also. To get the solution where I want it will take some work to get to, and right now I just don't have the time.

I actually have a gso 4.1. Kinda iffy on these, mine doesn't hold an edge worth a damn. I do have a 5.1 on the way eventually, so I'll see if I just got a bad egg with that 4.1. I do love the idea of the 3.5, just nervous about it.

My solution would be to strip the RS and spend about 15 minutes with some fine grit sandpaper and a mouse pad.

I'll gladly take that RS off your hands for you.. Mine needs a brother or sister now that uncle RMD is on his way.
Really though,
I agree with AntDog, I'm actually in the process of etching/stripping mine. I have a WSKO that helped me thin mine down to a nice and slicey 17 degrees, and from what I've heard the costing removal helps tons with cut resistance/efficiency. It turned out to be my perfect EDC, I only went through two or three before I got there, I hope you have similar luck going forward.

Why not have a look at which member knife makers do work you like in 3v and shoot them a private message? DCL Knives comes to mind. Drew does some great work making smaller knives in 3v.
