.. Hey folks, I was wondering if anybody has any idea about the Canadian laws on knives? I'm in Canada, and I was thinking of getting a knife, but I am not sure what the law is? am I alowed to buy a knife?
I would really appreciate your help.

Patience, my good man, patience.

Things often get rather slow around here on the weekends. Many members only have internet access through work. Others are off actually enjoying their knives in places where the internet does not yet reach.

In the mean time, God helps those who help themselves. You might try doing a bit of searching in the archives here at bladeforums. You might also try http://www.dejanews.com and search for previous threads on rec.knives.

Hey there fellow Canadian. Welcome to BFC. Gollnick's right. There may be 3600+ members here but patience is definitely the key. Here's a link to a good discussion that was happening on the Spyderco forum not too long ago:

And search for CANADA in the General Blade Discussion for Year 1 and you'll get some other stuff also. Hope this helps.

Chuck is right, Misko. Just have a little patience. I know we have several Canadian members who, I am sure, will be willing to help.

In the meantime, another source of some info is the Spyderco Forum here at BF. I remember a recent discussion on the legality of one-hand openers in Canada. A search of that forum's recent posts should turn it right up. [Oops, ET beat me to this one.]

Lastly, if you don't get the answers you need otherwise, you might want to try changing the topic to something like "Canadian Knife Laws" to attract folks with the knowledge you need.

BTW, welcome to BF. It's a great place to be.

Misko, I've been buying knives from ADaM Sharps Cutlery for almost two years now, he's a good guy to deal with and a Canuck too (Canadian prices, no customs hassles, etc.) If you don't see what you like, email him, he can get almost anything. http://www.nt.net/~admclean/Index.htm
