I would love to get a vacuum chamber thing for him but there are a lot of different ones out there. Any advice or suggestions would be so helpful. Running out of time and dont want to get the wrong thing. This is just a hobby for him but hes mentioned this several times so i know he would be happy with one he made himself but i dont want him to have to make one (he made most of his own equipment so far) or get him a junk one. Not knowing where to turn, im hoping someone can help. Please

Here's how it works with guys, you ask him, specifically, what he wants and then go buy that exact thing.

My wife always tells me that I bought her a fantastic gift after the fact. Usually boots or a jacket 😂

The flip side is she doesn't open the boxes that come with my name on them throughout the year 😜

Get a gift card for shop of preference and get it printed. Dream gift for any knife enthusiast!

I cant even tell you how many Coach and Kate Spade bags Ive bought for my wife that I just cant remember shopping for! However every time I ask how much I spent the answer is always “ less than the knife in your pocket” so I am good with it!

I'm assuming this is for making plastic sheaths and the like?

Here's my take on it for what it's worth:

If he has a specific model, then purchase that one if it is within budget. If he's happy with what he has made, then the idea that you went out of your way to get him something that you hope would make his hobby more enjoyable and easier should mean a lot to him regardless of what you get. I have piles of stuff that I might not have chosen for myself but my wife put thought into it and I appreciate the effort more than getting the "right" thing. Lots of guys are resourceful, and having a close-to-right back up never hurts.

I don't dabble in kydex/plastic sheaths beyond heating them up in the oven and pressing them out with my fingers, but I can see how a vacuum chamber would make things a lot better. My technical suggestion is to figure out what he is making and make sure you get a chamber that will fit those particular size sheaths.

If you have an idea of roughly the size sheaths he wants to make and form, then someone here may be able to point you in the right direction.

Best of luck to you, ma'am.

I saw a knife back in stock that I wanted, told my wife, ordered it, and handed it to her when it came in , so she can give it to me on Christmas Day. Happy wife, Happy me. Lol

My wife is a Kate Spade junkie as well 😂

One long game strategy is to find a thing that he uses, and get him accessories or add-ons for thast. Fishig stuff is one example, tools are another. Our son has been given a specific pistol by someone, a 1911 Colt. For his birthday, we gave him a model specific sleaning kit. this Christmas, he wil get a set of special grips anda belt clip for it.

Those are examples . . .it could be an elaborate coffee maker or something like that.
an outdoor grill opens the door for grilling gear . . . .

The point is that the initial gift is a gateway to other related stuff, and his use of the item will inform you of what to get next.
