Hello,

My name is Philip Carlson and I need some help with my Balisong. I have 4 Questions and responses would be appricated. first I just bought my first bali it is a black dimond and I got it from knifezilla for 12.95 . and the latch on my knife keeps swinging in to the inside part of the knife and getting in the way of the blade when the bali swings to a close the latch is in the way and the blade hits it and now there is some dents in the blade from this. Is there a way to prevent this? next I need to know what would be a good bali to buy next? I need one of higher quality. number three I would like to visit some bali web sites the only one I know of is blaixtreme any more would be appreciated. for my last question I need to kow what the laws are in Kansas for balis I think they are illeagle to sell but I need to know if they are leagle to carry and this type of stuff . Thanks you to any one who responds.

Yeah, you need to make some sort of latch gate. As for your next bali you have two options. The first is a Benchmade 42. They cost about $120, but the are of the highest quality. I've had mine for a couple months and after daily flipping it is still in the condition I purchased it in. If you're not willing to spend that much for a balisong, you can get a Jaguar. They are availabe on Knifezilla I think. Those will cost you about $15 to $30 dollars. You'll have to replace the pins. which is detailed on Balisong Xtreme. Some other sites are balisongcollector.com and balisongfans.com

The way i keep the latch out of the way is just swing the knife quickly. If you swing fast, the citrifugal force (sp?) will cause the latch to swing out, and as long as you keep the momentum going, it will not get in the way and hit the blade when you close it. Just keep it swingin... BTW, are you the same whipmaster that's in #yo-yo sometimes?-

If you are manipulating the Bali properly, the latch isn't even an issue. The only bali I own that has a latch gate is the 42 but none of my other balis have any nicks in the blade. When you get the technique down, you won't even notice the blade when your swinging it.

I would go with the BM 42. You can see pics and read a review at www.balisongcollector.com
(now the link is fixed)

What happened to the "BALISONG MASTER"? Anyone remember him? Sorry whipmaster, your name just brought up a memory of someone else that used to post in here.
