I have a Ontario RD6 and am looking for a smaller Ontario as a companion knife. Should I get a RD4 or should I go for a Shiv?

that depends, what are you going to be doing? opening packages or something of that nature? if so then go for the RD4, for self defense or something along those lines, go for the shiv.
