I own some SwampRats and I am about to take my first steps as a piglet into the INFI world and would like some advice from you Hogs.

I want to step up my sharpening and have been looking into getting an EdgePro Apex. During my archival search I noticed a few hogs here (Tyrkon, MoriMoto, Oku) that own one and seem to like it. So my question to you...Is the EdgePro worth it and will it work on all Busses large and small?

Here is a link to the EdgePro site for those that dont know what I am talking about.

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone who owns one of these not like it. I know I don't. Not like it; that is

The EdgePro rocks!

I've got the apex model and it easily works on blades of all sizes. Get some extra of the course stones with it. You'll have to re-profile most knives the first time you sharpen them (especially anything with a convex edge), and the course stones wear the fastest.

The EdgePro is great and so is the owner of the company, Ben Dale ... very helpful.

Hard to go wrong with a EdgePro  Superb and consistent results! Hair popping sharp edges! Whats not to like :D

I have used my Edge Pro on knives from the size of a Game Warden all the way up to doing my AK47 in sections. I just recently put a wicked edge on my FFBM. I give it an A+.

The edge pro is great! Just the ticket for reprofiling large blades. Leaves an even professional looking bevel too.

Like Greg45 said, get a couple of the 120 Grit course stones if you plan to reprofile a bunch of knives.

Greg45, course stone at what grit to get extra? Thanks

I got a couple of extra 120gr stones and an extra 180gr and 220gr. So far, the 120gr stones are the only ones that have worn heavily and are nowhere near flat anymore. Once you get the right edge profile with them, the others just polish the edge to finer degrees, so they last a lot longer.

You can also restore the stones to "flat" after they have worn, but you'll eventually need at least another one of the courser ones.

I love mine!

It will allow you to enjoy your knives to their fullest.

Thanks for all the replies. Should I get the Pro or Apex?

If you are not comfortable with freehand yet but want super sharp blades now then I'd say get one. But still move towards perfecting your freehand skills like Justabuyer, and others here, have done.

I sharpened a couple of knives, changed the edge profile and showed them to my co-workers. They were rightfully impressed. As stated above. It rocks.
If you don't mind kicking out the bucks, I would go for the pro. My APEX works great but the suction cups seem to constantly require re-seating. I have moved to the counter top from a wood table for that reason. I like the sturdy looks of the pro. It was just hard to justify for the price. I am cheap (what can I say)

Oh sorry. You were asking about the Apex-vs-Pro versions. I have the Pro and love it but some of the other HOGS here may be able to tell you how the bsic version works. I am sure it is more than enough and you can always buy more stones later to add on if you desire. Or so I hear.

I ordered on about a week ago and hopfuly gets here by monday.

I was wondering, is it easy to start with even if you dont know how to use stones, and will this help out on teachig you how to use stones?

I have said this many times, but I am going to say it again, for sake of saving you good knives that is, PRACTICE ON YOUR KITCHEN KNIVES FIRST!!
