I need some info on an Al Mar....

I have been looking for an Al Mar SERE for almost 30 years. The ones I saw either were to expensive ( for my limited means ) or the seller could not be bothered to send it to Switzerland. Found one on sale here, broke my piggybank, and bought the most expensive knife in my collection. Not that I saved money for the Al Mar for 30 years, I have been buying pocketknives all that time ! But I digress... Question: At what date did the chinese ideogram appear on the blade? Mine only has AL MAR on the lower part of the blade, on the flap of the leather pouch, and on the box in a square in red. It has black Micarta scales and the Special Forces insignia on the bolster, the pouch is tan leather, the box is white cardboard. Was a manual or other papers included? A photograph of your knife and markings would help greatly. But I'm guessing your knife/sheath looks like this.
If so it would be a 1980s Non-North American Market SERE.
