I never had to lubricate most of my folders, and most of them are becoming harder to open with creaking sounds.....I would like to be able to flick them open again. The ones I lubricated long time ago used motor oil and it worked pretty good. What is good to use that's not overly expensive and lasts long time....

Pretty much any lubricating oil will work just fine for your folders I use the same stuff I use on most of my firearms which is Slip2000 EWL. Slip2000 is colorless, odorless, non toxic, reasonably priced, and most importantly it's an excellent lubricant.

If the joints are sticky, clean the knives with a toothbrush and soap and water first. Then just use whatever light household oil you have handy. I use 3-in-One a lot but, really, any good light machine oil will work fine.

It's been my experience that medium-viscosity lubes designed to stand up to heat tend to gum-up a pivot. Some (not all) gun lubes fall into that category.

I used to borrow (steal) my wife's sewing-machine oil, and then I found Benchmade BlueLube. Great stuff.

I use Gun Butter quite a bit and it works well. I also use TW25B on my Sebenzas, which also works well. As said above, just about any light machine oil or gun lube will do the job.

Two votes for the same product in a 'which lube' thread is rare!!

Now I know why I love KSF so much!!

Correct, thin lubricant is key.
It needs to do it's job without attracting and holding gunk....

Blue Lube is great at working the way you want a knife lube to work!

Benchmade Blue lube and WD-40 do the job for me.

If I am taking the knife completely down I use CRK flouro grease. If just lubing without taking down a squirt of WD-40 then blow out the excess with the air compressor.

Benchmade Blue lube is good stuff it's also the same as Prolix Gun Lube so pick whichever one you can find the cheapest. I think the number of different recommendations just goes to show that you can pretty much use any oil on your knives and it'll work just fine.
