I don't even know where to begin looking or asking at the hardware store. I found stuff online that said it was a green paint stripper used to remove powder coatings. Is the BK9 powder coated, will that stuff work or could it hurt the knife. I saw a spray on foam-like stripper used on a YouTube video to strip the black coating off a Cold Steel Trail hawk and all he did was spray it over the hawk head, wait about 15mins and toss it in a bucket of water(I think) and the coating came right off. But I can't read the logo on the can and he doesn't say what its called. I'd appreciate any help cuz I want to get this done so I can see how it looks and decide what color scales I want to put on the handle.

Citristrip seems to be the one I see used most on Beckers. At my local hardware store they have it in liquid and in a spray can like the video.

Why do you want to strip your knife?
I am curious because I have thought about stripping the finish off my RTAK II. It is getting worn and looking a little less than great. Is there any major down side to stripping the (protective) finish from a large knife blade?

I'm not sure of the downside but there may very well be one. I just want to modify my Becker to have a silver or satin finish and new colored micarta handle scales.
