I need to age some brass

I polished a lot of brass in my younger (and not so younger) days in the Marine Corps.
I was always amazed how quickly sweaty hands tarnish it.

You have a number of them in your kitchen. Mustard, lemon, vinegar, the list goes on and on. There have been a bunch of threads about this over the years. If you use the search function it will provide a lot of reading!

You might give ammonia a try. I use it to petina mokume and it does a pretty good job.

Birchwood Casey Brass Black. Instant dark tarnish. A muratic acid bath might work too.

I use cold gun bluing
you just need to make sure the brass is clean, no oil.
and if you get to dark use some 2000 grit to clean it up
in the places the parts that should look used for the
ones you want to look old and used...

I just bought some Brass Black at a gun show this weekend. Its suppossed blacken and or age brass and copper. I haven't tried it yet.....
