I have a Large Classic Sebenza. Can anyone tell me how to figure out what the Blade is made of? I was told by the previous owner that is was BG42, but I do not have the Born On Card, so I cannot positively say what it is. Thanks for any help you can give me...

the way to know for sure is to take the blade out, and check under the washers. if you see no writing it is BG42, if you see a capital "S" it is S30V

I looked under the blade and there is no marks, so It should be BG-42. Also the timeline tells me its BG-42, as the used this from Oct 1996 thru Jan 2002. I would say the "00" is 2000, which is the very first year they made the Classic. So what does the "C" stand for?

Classic?

The "C" stands for which quarter of the year it was made in. A is Jan - Mar, B is Apr - Jun, C is Jul - Sep, and D is Oct -Dec. So your should be July through September of 2000.

OK! So if any of you would like to know what knife this is, it is the Large Classic Tom Mayo / Tom Krein Custom Sebenza I have up for sale. So now you know the history of it. I'm considering pulling it now?
