Yesterday, one of the little nose rests on my glasses decides to fall off. I've had these since 06 so it's about time. I broke the other one off so they would sit right but they started digging into my schnozz after a few hours. I found a piece of hot glue stick and got busy with a knife and lighter. I'd say this counts as modified gear.

I recommend checking out all different shapes of frames even if you think they wont suit. I was surprised what suited me when I tried different styles on. If you can stretch to titanium frames they're tough I've fallen on them a few times and they still keep on

Looks like we are going to Costco in the near future. I could get free glasses at the VA but I dint want to deal with them.

pretty much any big box store with an eyeglasses counter will replace those for free on prescription eyeglasses. (Target, Sears, Wally World, etc...)

I am basically blind w/out my glasses or contacts. I once used a pencil and wire to make a arm until I could get a replacement.

I know what you mean, I got astigmatism and I cant see anything farther then 5 inches from my eyes w/o contacts or glasses on. Sucks.

Titanium frames are awesome though. I fall asleep with my glasses on a lot and wake up with them bent till I got titanium ones.

One thing I can not stand are those little plastic nose pads. For me, they dig in and cause irritation then bleeding. Or one breaks off and gets lost and you hafta find some duck tape

I always get my eyeglasses with the built-in nose piece that wraps around the whole bridge. A lot more comfortable.

I like www.zenni.com -- and buy some spares while you're at it! At $8 a pair why should you ever be without glasses?

I've purchased around 18 pairs from them, trying different styles. I found a set I liked and now have 2 non-a/r, 2 with a/r, and 2 sunglasses in the same style. total cost = $72.75 for 6 pairs of glasses, two of which have a/r. I work at a lenscraftes and did a final inspection on them, the prescription and pd's came out spot on on every pair I've gotten from them.

Before I got my lasik I was a -6.00 -1.00 in my right and -4.25 -1.00 in my left, so I was essentially blind without my glasses. I could get around the house but certainly not drive. It is absolutely worth buying from zenni just to have a back up(s) when you have that high of a prescription.

I like the Zeiss Scopz Glasses. They are not made anymore, but they pop up on EBay from time to time. They cost about $100 with plano lenses. Your Optometrist can add prescription lenses. They were designed for shooting but work well for everything else. The nose piece is adjustable for height.
