Thanks for visiting the forum.

I am going to offer a SnodyKnives SMID-TECH Fixed Blade this year and I really would love to get your input.

What blade steel would you like to see?

Why blade style?

What price point?

I am envisioning a blade length between 3.5" and 4"

I would appreciate some feedback on specifically what features we should incorporate in this design.

Thanks in advance.

Much Respect from Texas.

Steel? m390

Style? stylish with a large dash of gangster ;) thinking resistorish..feel me?

price? around $300.00 or so

blade length you has is fine as long as its below 4"

X2 on m390. Id like to see a boss style blade, classy profile with your signature snody touch. Blade length of 3.75" and thin enough to slice well. Price <$350 would be awesome

Liberty NC in the house..
I had some killer memories on Silk Hope Rd.

NC blades use to drop by my knifeshop in the evenings.
Very cool times.

I was living in Liberty when that crazy freeze about 10 yrs ago.
We were without power for about 7 days and the road were covered with downed trees and ice.

Thanks for the awesome post.
I need to take my clients input and design this pattern specifically for them
Please post any ideas you have bro.
Much Respect.

It sounds like this is not your first rodeo.

Great Post dude, great description.

I am thinking Boss profile with an upgraded phenolic handle and some useful survival features/attributes incorporated in the design.

Do you think the knife should have thumb serrations for grip control or have a rounded spine?

Much Respect.

SMID-TECHtm is the SnodyKnives Version of a Mid Tech.

SMID = Strategic Management and Innovations.

I am currently working on a SMID-TECH folder project and I need some serious input for the Fixed Blade Counterpart.

I really want real world feedback.

My goal is to create custom grade fixed blade at an incredible price point..

I need to know what the suggested price point would be.

I have several forums but this is my Strongest Fixed Blade Demographic.

You guys are the Fixed Blade Kings and your ideas will help shape this project.

Thanks.

Thumb serrations for the win.

Thanks B..
I appreciate the support Homie.

Double Ground Blade, Thumb Serrations, What type of handle?

Micarta
G10
Injection molded plastic

What are you feeling dude.

Respect.

All my first and favorite knives had G10 so I am biased. Strong, light weight, grippy and I like calling things "G". 2 cents.

mike, i sent you an email with pictures of some knives i made over the years. if you see something you like, get with me and i'm sure we'll come up with something.

X3 on the m390. For the handle anything but injection molded plastic, why not Ti? Everyone loves Ti right... If we are talking high dollar maybe anodized Ti with some kind of inlays, maybe CF or something that would look good on the Ti. Again, if we are talking high dollar, maybe a mokume. If we are shooting for the $300 range mentioned so far I realize these things might be out the window. Looking forward to see what you bring out this year Mike. Hope something is in a range I can afford :D

laminated G10 with offset colors is always a winner in my book. I am also a fan of mircata linen, burlap, canvas, paper. Its all good stuff. Micarta needs some texture for gripage tho maybe some bead blasted stuff?

I'm not good at blade styles yet. I'm kinda addicted to the bushcraft style knifes. I do like high grind with an darker base color on the blade like forging scales. I love the shiny offset.

Not much help other than the ramblings here but its my 2 cents worth

Another vote here on the M390 for steel.

Blade length approximately 4 inches. Width 1 1/8 - 1 1/4.

Scales, g10 would offer up some nice options for color combos, micarta is always a solid choice. Desert Ironwood would be another great choice depending on the blade design.

For my big hands, I would like a bit more handle than your Boss Elite has. Gives me a more secure feeling when using it.

Jimping would certainly help out when the knife starts to get a little "slippery when wet".

A bit larger front quillon to keep the front finger from sliding up onto the blade.

G10 or micarta. really like the style of the Menace, 3.5 inch 154cm blade. Thumb serrations and sharp enough spine to strike a fero rod on. Also like finger choils for finer work. Sorry just rambling.

D2 wharncliffe, thin good slicer with all rounded edges. A nice EDC blade. Wharncliffe is a good utility blade shape and its easy to sharpen.

+ 1 on the micarta with thumb serrations. Steel type should be whatever you think for the chosen blade design, which I hope will end up being a double flat ground drop point ground very close to the scales. Titanium flared tube pins (3) and coming in at 3/16" thick with a 4" blade. Nice handle shape like your colab with BM on the small activator.

That small BM activator was my favorite of all time knife. Too bad I lost it hunting and now BM no longer makes em. Mike hit me up if you would ever consider making a replacement for me. It would be a dream knife!!!
