I have had this one laying around the bench for awhile and I decided to put it together this weekend. What I would like some coments on is the frame in the middle of the handle,Does it look OK being Nickel Silver and Brass with the Damascus Blade ?
Thanks,
Bruce

I think it looks damn good!! I like the way the blade is shaped, and the handle sets it off. If you don't mind me asking, how much does one of these cost? I am not an expert on custom knives, but in my opinion, it is very nice.

Damn good knife. Don't doubt yourself, anything you make looks good.

I like it Bruce! The nickel silver bolster looks great with the brass spacers. How come the damascus pattern does not show up in the tang?

Since you asked for critical comments, the pictures Seem to show some damage to the almost translucent cow bone (circular patterns around some pins). Maybe this is just a strange lighting effect or photographic artifact. Because the front set of pins define a triangle, the overall pin pattern might be improved by setting the two outmost pins at the butt of the handle forward of the center pin, defining another triangle.

I Really like the lines, subtles curves and blade profile on this one even though I not normally a clip point fan. It all works together very well. Water Buffalo scales would also be a nice choice for a similar piece.

Keep up the good work Bruce.

Thanks for all the kind words everybody...
The reason that the Damascus doesnt show up in the tang is because this is constructed like my coke bottle handle but I used nickel Silver and Brass inthe middle of the handle instead of the Damascus Like I normaly would. The little rings around the pins happened when I drilled the holes and when I peened the pins,I think this would be corrected if I had the scales stabilized....This always happens to me with any of the forns that I use the Black horns don't show it as much...Anybody have any suggestions on how to stop this.

The little circles are delamination of the layers of horn, you can only see it in the translucent materials. If it happens while drilling, I would vary the speed of the drill, try slower first...

If it's the peening that causes it...shrug...stabilization might help or use screws.

Nice looking knife though, I like the idea of the patterned handle.

I like it a lot, Bruce.

I like contrasts. Kinda reluctant to say this in public, but I've seen a lot of folders that, IMHO, were nearly ruined by using the same damascus for the bolsters as the blade. I've seen some turn the pattern sideways on the bolster and that works great. But, I think the bright silver of the bolsters really sets off and defines the figure of the damascus.

Keep it up!
