I paid $16 for a $10 knife, and I'm still happy

(Excuse the indoor shots. I'd much rather be out on the trail taking pics, but I've been down with the flu for the past four days, but this new knife arrived yesterday and I had to play with it. My words may be rambling, and my pics may be blurry, but hooray for Theraflu!!)

And that price doesn't include the $14 shipping to get it here! Broke down and got the Mears stamped Mora 510 and I am pretty happy with it. (Actually I got two because the shipping was the same) I had been looking into a Mora to ride in my water bottle holder as a light weight and slim blade. It fits as nicely as I'd hoped

It didn't come out of the box with that legendary Mora sharpness. There were flat spots along the edge. It took me only about 10 minutes on an extra fine water stone to fix it though. I'm no master at fuzz sticks, especially having a fever, but it shaved paper thin curls easily

Another thing I'm testing out on the bottle holder is this little leather light/knife holder that I got from a craft store. It was fun to sew up and holds a mini mag and a sak Farmer nicely and it has a steel belt clip on the back.

The top velcro is a nice place for some advertising :p

So an extra $6 for Uncle Rays logo, not too outrageous I guess. Plus this knife isn't being made anymore.

Thanks for looking. Back to bed I go!

Moras already have a long and well deserved reputation, but I never got into them. Prior to this, my only experience had been with the barrel shaped wood handled versions, and I never warmed up to those. This one on the other hand has a very comfortable and secure feeling handle. At first it feels like cheap plastic (which it is) but after using it a little bit I like it.

I like that leather light/knife holder - is it sold for that purpose ?

Yeah I think the package even said flashlight and knife sheath or something similar. It will fit a slightly bigger knife than the Farmer, and you wet form it when its all sewn up. My wife is big into crafts and I happen to be along with her and found it. If you have a Michaels craft store near you that's where I got it. I think it was around 10 bucks

I got that little holster back in October but i wasn't sure anyone else would think it was cool :p I found the original packaging for it, and it is made by Tandy, so it probably can be found other places too. I did a quick search and found it on their site.

I'm not much of a craftsman, but it comes with everything you need and I was able to sew it up in about half an hour.

Cool pouch T....I didnt know you were into leather. Looks nice. If you can do that, you can make a sheath with firesteel loop. Leather isnt hard Ive found, but it takes some practice to get things squared away... I dig the Mears Mora. I ordered one a week or so ago. Cool green handles and the Mears logo. It will make a nice piece for the carving kit. Im sure mine will see some fish action too this season. I really like those Moras for water work.
