...compunction from another forum - A sweet, golden haired little girl in a frilly dress traipsed into a pet shop, and asked the proprietor if he "sold fwuffy wittle bunny wabbits". The owner, much taken by the tyke, replied "My goodness, yes. Do you like the wittle white wabbits, or the wittle bwown ones best"? The girl replied, "Actuawwy, I don't fink my pyfon gives a thit".

OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not THAT thread again.:eek: I thought my dreams were safe but nooo, somebody had to bring it back.:p:D lol

Most spiders don't bother me. Blackwidows on the other hand Scare the snot out of me. Snakes and Black spiders in a dream, and I'd rather not sleep.*shudder*

lcs37, how did you sleep? When I first read that thread, I didn't sleep to well. The Nightmares were BAD!

Slept good, once I got there. Thinking of the convention and meeting some of you guys, filled my head. Kept me from thinking of snakes and things. :)

A couple of years back I would have nominated myself for the 'most scared of spiders' award.
This annoyed me and I decided to rid myself of this phobia by getting a tarantula.

Isn't this guy a cutie?

I have one of these but mines legspan is only 7" or so.
He definately does NOT want to be petted, and I have no problem with that.:D
Be around one of these guys much and the little spiders you see around outside (poisonous or no) won't bother you at all!

On a sidenote:
Considering some of the previous posts, I just can't see the new 'big-ass spider' passaround turning out as popular as the 'pen-knife passaround'.:p

I've heard that the Big Ass South American Spiders taste like crab, even saw them eaten on a documentery by the indigs there!!!! :)
But I suppose that would end the pass around spider.;) :p

Actually, why not? I mean we, or at least some of us love water spiders in the form of crab so why not?!?!?!?:D

Well Yvsa, you have helped me out with my sharpening technique, so I would send it, but...well, he is a pet.

Tell you what, I'll send a big shed-off exoskeleton and if you like the taste of it, I will show you the restara..er, petshop where I got it. (please include pics of yourself gnawing on exoskeleton):D

I recently spent six months in Australia. Nice place but it does have a few cooties.

Went into an outhouse in the desert once to do my business and counted NINE redback spiders (Aussie black widow equivalent). Made me a little nervous, but they were staying in their corners. Then I un-pantsed and sat down next to a big grey furry spider the size of my hand. That rattled me. Got up, re-pantsed and got my aussie friend. She slapped me on the shoulder and said, "Aww it's just a Huntsman, ya woose!" She poked it with a stick and it moved like lightening! I did go back in and do my business.

The next summer I was living in a little apartment. One night I closed the screen door and there was a smaller big grey furry huntsman on the inside of it. Smirking a little, I took a few pictures. Can't find them right now but I will post when I do.

My only snake experience there was with a common brown snake. These are the third deadliest snakes in Oz, and get aggressive. He was crossing the path about 20 feet ahead of me and didn't seem to care much.

Somebody got bit on the big toe by an ant an inch-long. That was funny. He was hurting for hours.

I guess I am OK with spiders and snakes, though they do make me nervous. The bugs that I find really revolting and gross and scary are those big ugly nasty cockroaches. I was talking to someone and a 2-inch long bug skittered across the hall behind her. Just plain creepy...

Not many spider or snake stories here in MN. The cold prevents most of the nasties from living here. Though there are rattlers in the southern part of the state.

So here is my one snake story, here in MN. I was 12 biking down a bile path on a sunny summer day in MN (yes we do have summer). Im going at a good clip with a friend, maybe 20 mph or so, when up ahead I see a stick along the path. Not thinking much of it, and since at the time my friend and I did alot of off-roading on our mountain bikes, I figured Id just run over the puny stick. Well low and behold, right as Im about to run over the stick it coils back, rattles, and as Im passing a 3 ft rattler tries to attack its attacker, just missing my back tire. Being young I didnt make much of it at the time. Anyways Ive never been afeared of snakes, though the women in my family are so terrified that one cant even take my son's fake plush toy snake. Which makes him laugh, and has now become one of his games, to chase his Tita Tessie with his friend Snaky. Though I guess growing up in PI, they have many more snake and spider stories.
