I pimped one of my Sebenzas

I decided it was time to do some work to my small classic sebenza. The handles were in need of refinishing, so I went to work with some scotch-brite. An hour or so later, I had a nice even satin finish.

I've always liked the plainness of a plain sebenza, but I decided I'd like to add a little bit of texture and flash to my knife. All and all, I'm very pleased with the results. I think it looks pretty sharp, there is definately more grip available while pulling it from the pocket, and nobody else has one exactly like it.

Please tell me what you think. Honest opinions only. Whether you like it or think I completely ruined the knife, let me know.

that is awesome! How did you get the ovals instead of circles? It looks great!

I used a ball end mill and instead of plunging it straight in like a drill, I arced it downward .030" for every .200" long cut.

I'm a machinist, if you couldn't guess already. Having a full disposal of some nice CNC machinery really helps with the side projects.:)

I was originally shooting for a "Gunner Gripesque" type pattern, but it's a little trickier than I thought to work around the existing holes in the scales and try and center everything. All in all I'm happy with how it turned out, but if I could do it over, I'd move the cuts on the lock bar side about .025" further away from the lock bar.

Nice work. Not my cup of T, but nice work. And nobody else has one like this!

Kind regards,

Jos

That is excellent work! I like it a lot better than some of the factory embellishments:thumbup:

Beautiful work! I'd be proud to carry a pattern like that myself.

About a .025" shift away from the lockbar, I think you did fine. Better a little close to the lock bar than too close to the edge.

I think it looks great!...never understood why we don't see a lot more decorated by the end user...lots of us have experience working with manual mills...why let Lisa have all the fun.

Now if you could anodize it to get a nice blue or something in there....:D

That looks pretty good to me, I might have been tempted to leave the lock side but it still looks good.
Maybe a bit of colour would be a nice touch to help finish that one off too :)

Thanks for the kind words. Anodizing it passed through my thoughts, but I haven't found a color that you can anodize titanium that really strikes me. For the most part, they seem to be too "pastel" in color.

I do think a stone washing would look really nice and help it from showing wear however.
