"Busse's for Sale or Trade"

Maybe it just bugs me because I'm not interested and have to scroll past all the Busse posts in the trading forums. Has anyone else noticed?

This was mentioned a few months ago, and it was attributed to the new model release, BLADE, etc., but the Busse juggernaut has not slowed any. Is there a reason why Busse owners seem to more enjoy the trading than the keeping/using aspect of the hobby?

I've noticed that myself. I wonder how many hands some of those busses have passed through by trading and selling on this and other forums?

Maybe it's because Busse lover love their knives so much they have to have more, so they overextend themselves, and end up having to sell. Maybe you should buy one and keep quiet, that forum is available for everyone to sell, Gold members anyway.
And Maybe you should buy a Gold membership so your vote might actually hold a little weight.

Many of the sellers of Busses' are chaps that have purchased more than a blade for themselves and in essence are almost unofficial distributors. At least after an exclusive offer, a series has been discontinued, or a few "misplaced blades" have been found at the shop. ;) They have quite possibly made a wise investment and are merely extending the fine art of capitalism. It is after all a very popular blade gents. No need to have the brand segregated after all. Have a beer and relax Bros'! :D

All the very best,

Stuart

I had no idea I was holding weight. I thought the moderators and administators held all the weight in these forums. Well, let's do the numbers... I looked through the 3 most recent pages in the For Sale by Individuals forum. Within the thread titles I count a total of 80 individual references to specific manufacturers. A total of 22 specific manufacturers were referenced. Of those 80 individual references to specific manufacturers, I count 22 Busse, 12 Spyderco, 10 Benchmade, then everything else is 4's and lower. It seems much of this could be remedied by individuals grouping all of the knives they have for sale into a single thread, instead of posting a seperate thread for each knife. However, I do understand the motivation for seperate threads. Overall, though, I'm with Stu Gatz on this one, beer or not. The Busse's aren't my thing, but I don't find it onerous to wade through them. Too bad there's not an "Ignore" tool that would work similar to the "Search" tool.

A "Busse for Sale" forum? Might work.

Then I wouldn't have to scroll through all that other stuff to get to the Busses!

Grouping multiple sales in a single post is something that should be done. Spamming the Exchange forum with 8+ listings by the same seller is not only annoying it is also rude. I won't name names because I have dealt with one of them, but 2 members are the biggest offenders of this practice. By listing them separately you cause the other seller's listing to hit the bottom of the page or the next page in a matter of minutes. And this is not a rare occurence. This happens almost daily. I think it's time the mods of the For Sale forum require multiple sales to be listed in one post and enforce it. I hate having to stare at a page of Busse knives before I find something I'm interested in.

A majority of our membership, regardless of status, use the exchange forum as a means to buy knives that may be unobtainable elsewhere. I couldn't care less about the membership status of someone who is interested in buying something I have to sell. And for the record everyone's opinion holds weight around here. Don't think that because you are a Gold Member your opinion is held higher than the basic user. A good portion of basic users become Gold Members shortly after they see how much info they can aquire.

I hate having to scroll past peoples posts quickly so that my young impressionable daughters don't see scantly clad women in peoples avatars and think that this is a good career choice.

i've sold and traded more than a little here on the forums. once i did an experiment...i posted 8 knives for sale in one post with pictures. in something like two weeks i sold two of the knives. i listed the rest seperatly and sold all but one of them in 2 days. i believe without a doubt that items listed seperatly have a better chance of selling. i would be glad to hold to a rule of posting all items in a single post (that's the rule at other 'for sale' forums) but as long as it isn't law, it's certainly more lucrative to post seperately. i do agree that it sucked having my knife for sale get bumped down to the bottem of the page because a certain member posted something like 4 seperate busse's (actually just "bttt'd" them).

either way the moderators go with this one if fine by me. i love the 'for sale' forums here. i've gotten most of my favorite knives that way. i hold these forums in high reguard and i'm more than happy to help do what's best.

i'm glad i had the opportunity to support them finacially as weland purchase a gold membership. i agree that it doesn't give me any more weight than a basic member. the priveledge of using the 'for sale' forum is enough priveledge for me.

by the way....

hahahaha! i laughed out loud when i read the initial post that started this thread. then it got serious.

That remark was uncalled for and a dig at me personally. :grumpy: You can turn off the setting to view avatars. I can't turn off veiwing page, after page, after page of Busse knives for sale. Don't turn this into something it's not.

Hot women posing in bikinis is a good career choise. It works for the ladies in Sports Illustrated and Maxim.

Like Ken said. Let's not get personal. No one here has a problem with Busse knives. They have a problem with 1 person using 5-6 different listings to sell knives, many times of the same brand. Busse seems to be the big one now.

The thread would have been the same had he said CRK, Spyderco, or Benchmade.

Edit to add: The model he posted this week is an aspiring actress/super model. She has been working with Guess for years. She also models bathing suits. She has never done any nude or distasteful modeling. I read a quote from her recently that I liked. "Models are just that. People who model clothes." I don't really see how modeling is such a poor career choice.

y'all are crackin' me up....

The thread, though frivilous, sure has brought up some issues...:D

I actually don't see a problem with individual knives offered (per thread)....what I don't like is having to dig through somebody's vague "stuff for sale" post....

Daniel Koster?! Who the hell are you?!!! :p :D ;) :D

You are correct JR and I like to think I am helping further her career.

Some of us basic members are also struggling to scrap money together for college and cars... ;)
