I put it off for years

As the title says, I put off buying a CRK for years, even tho I considered myself a knife guy with pretty high numbers in my collection, but nothing in the CRK quality range. About a month ago a notification from blade HQ popped up in my email that they had the small sebenza insingo in stock, in a moment of weakness I ordered it.

I eagerly waited for it to come and as I sat down to open the box, I have to say I was kinda disappointed. While it was beautiful, smooth, solid, all the things I had always heard it just didn't blow me away above what I was used to carrying, a mini grip 550 hollow grind. However I did plan on using it and carrying it so I stuck it my pocket and set the mini grip on the dresser.

The days went by and I held it, used it, played with it, and it grew on me more and more everyday. I can't actually put my finger on it, it is something almost intangible I suppose because as I said, I was in love with my mini grip. It was all the things the benza was, good looking (in my opinion), smooth, solid, etc.

While sharpening the blade on my wicked edge, wanted to have one of my edges on it, I actually rounded the tip a little bit, nothing major, just a slight aesthetic thing. But it bothered me so I contacted CR customer service and sent it in to get a new blade, and get the old one back. I now feel naked without it, the mini grip that I loved for so long just doesn't do it anymore, almost feel like I am carrying a toy after carrying a blade for a month.

Kinda a long story, didn't mean for it to be. I feel I am in trouble tho, I now own another one and am justifying in my mind the reason to have a third...
 
One you get your first you need another to go with it! Where are the pics?

Haha, no pics, just a plain small sebenza insingo on both. I actually like the plain better than the fancy inlay ones. Guess I'm just a plain guy. But as to why I feel the need to buy more, I don't get it. I just don't understand what makes me, and obviously all of u, feel this way.

And being a small knife guy I am already eyeing a Mnandi and of course the inkosi when it comes out! This isn't good.

I thought I'd just add that I bought a used Plain Jane and the blade that is on it had been horribly sharpened. It looks like ass and needs a new blade. I actually don't plan on sending it in until I absolutely have to because having the jacked up blade makes it easy to use it for EVERYTHING without any worry whatsoever.

They should send your old blade back to you as well.

Also, I'd say don't dismiss inlays entirely. The Micarta is phenomenal, especially on a small.
 
Yeah I specifically asked for the old blade back for that exact reason, will just use it to death but have the replacement when I want it. They wouldn't send me a new blade without sending the knife in tho.

Welcome to the world of CRK JakeDobbins. You're not alone with your assessment of CRK's. I'm in the same boat. No other brand of knife has drawn me in like CRK. I've got other knives just sitting around collecting dust. I love my Striders, but I love my CRK's even more. I've got to curtail my knife funds for a little while, but still find myself looking for another CRK.
It's an addiction, there's just no other way to describe this madness.
 
Corskin posted some videos today...I just ordered my third small sebenza insingo and put an umnumzaan, a 25, and a large 21 insingo on my wish list. Come Monday I will list my other knives on eBay. I mean I literally have no use for anything else at this point. Is something wrong with me or is this normal behavior?
 
That is a very common story here. I know it is mine as well. If you are looking for "help" with your new addiction, you have come to the right place:D:confused::D

Hahahaha. Nope. Sounds about right. I've been selling off my other folders and pretty much just carrying CRK. My fixed woods blades and slip joints are however safe from the CRK take over…. Thankfully :D
 
So since this started for me, have 3 small plain Jane insingos and this one is on order. Think next is gonna be a knife art carbon fiber small insingo. Getting a pretty good start to the collection.
