Belt isn't an option. Dress pants pocket carry. What is the best clip and thumb stud? Weight is not an issue.

Pics would be great. Is anyone else doing this? How do you like it?

Thanks!

Have you thought about a pocket slip sheath? I'm not much help regarding the clip and thumb stud option.

This one hasn't left my side since I added the clip.
I was pretty sure I would like this pocket carry, but I was surprised at how much I like it!
Don't think I'll ever go back to a belt sheath.
I only have a few dollars wrapped up in the clip and screws.

The limited edition Buck Lochsa is one I've really lusted after.......kinda pricey though sadly. I'm hoping sometime one will come along I can work a trade for.

Nice job on that clip Stumps, gorgeous scales too!! Show off! Lol. :)

Not my pics....

I always dropped mine down in my pocket, either front or back (mostly back). I never used a sheath or a clip.

Another option, suggested by camping guru Cliff Jacobsen, is to sew a vertical seam in your rear pocket. You can carry the knife vertically in the outer part of that pocket with great comfort while sitting. I do this with my old style slider cell phone (or with a large knife if not carrying the phone). With dress slacks, this would be invisible. I wear jeans 99% of the time and the seam is visible but so what.

A picture is worth 1000 words. Note the vertical seam in the center of the pocket. Note that it is shorter than the phone and knife. Makes for easier access while still keeping the phone/knife upright.

Very nice Stumps! Where'd you get the clip? Simple drill and tap?

I think all the knife supply places have the clips.
Drill and tap on this was using 2-56 socket head screws, #50 drill and 2-56 bottoming tap.
Will be using button head screws from now on though. They will look better.

The seam in the back pocket is a great idea.

Another guy on the Traditional forum suggests running a vertical seam along the outer edge of the FRONT pocket. Keeps the knife vertical, just below the top of the pocket and along the side seam of the pant. I'm going to start playing around with that as a way to carry heavier knives for EDC.

Yes, that front pocket idea is a good one too. I was carrying my new Buck 500 Duke around in my back pocket a couple of days ago, and noticed how it's slim profile makes it fairly decent for a back pocket, but not so much for the front. These sewn in pocket dividers, front or back, can open up the possibility to carry many different larger knives comfortably in a pocket by keeping them vertical... and, it can reduce the coin scratches in some situations.

Thanks for the idea. Time to experiment ... dang, no sewing machine here. I guess I'll have to get out the needle & thread, and thimble.

The funny thing is that all of my dress pants have a small pocket sewn to the inside (against the leg) of the front pockets and a knife just slips in there and rides safe and secure.

I have a couple that way. If you know brand go ahead and say it. I have also just used little brass safety pins to make a front pocket slot. My wife has sewing machine but it only gets taken out if there is a sewing machine rally to go to...(Joke) 300

Some of the courda nylon sheaths are both horizontal and vertical rigged. The horizontal one makes it easy to carry a 110 on your belt.
