Forged this one a while back out of some W2 round bar, Iive used plenty of W2 in the past but really starting to appreciate the way that it responds to clay thickness, temp., soak and quinch media. Just seems much more sensative than 1095 to the combination, but the end result can very rewarding.

A simple cutting Bowie, W2 blade 9-3/4 x 1-7/8, 14-3/4" overall, Ceylon Ebony.

I'm with Lorien. It's just feels sharper to me. More refined. Less prone to rust that 1095 in my (limited compared to others) experience. I can get it Air bleeding sharp better than other steels (with a spot on HT) I love it at higher hardness... Smooth as a straight razor... and it's a simple steel with the ability to be beautiful.

Hamons and my favorite part ashi....I love ASHI! They look like the steel is crying out white clouds on to the cutting edge. that beautiful 3d effect... :D love it lots!

Man, that is really nice. I love hamon and that one is exceptional. That is one tough looking knife to have a wee little perfect heart at the end of the hamon. Seriously, nice work.

thanks all, John its simple as compared to most of the intricate customs, the only "semi" complicated task on my knives is the heat treat;)

Quite a HotRod, Matt. Flames out the headers (hamon) and a racing stripe (figure in handle).

Just terrific!
