To like another brand of knife.
I did research. I weighed my options. I ordered a really expensive custom knife. I waited with anticipation. I got the knife, I wasn't impressed.
I wanted to like it. I really tried to like it.
But in the end it wasn't a CRK. The opening wasn't as smooth. The familiar thwack when opening wasn't "right". The "feel" wasn't right. The slicing capability just wasn't what I was used to. *sigh* :upset:
I've been so spoiled. Chris Reeve, you've ruined me for all other knives. It's not fair. I used to love all knives. Apparently I've become a knife snob. I'm not happy about it. Well, maybe I am. I returned the other maker's knife. Took the money and ordered TWO CRK's. I have an Umnumzaan and a 25 sitting at the local FedEx facility to be delivered tomorrow. I'm beyond excited.

I'm sorry to all other brands of knives. I really am. Blame Cris Reeve.

I'm right there with you, Terry.

When I discovered CRK's last year, I had no idea I would be affected just as you described. I still have some of my other brand knives, but they sit unused. I carry CRK's and buy CRK's exclusively. I am slowly selling off some of my other excellent knives to buy more CRK's. Nothing like a CRK.

BTW, Lone Wolfe helped a bit with this... :)

I completely understand. I've specifically tried to carry and use other high end makers knives, because I used to enjoy a rotation of knives, but my Sebenzas keep kicking them out. Nothing else is quite the same, so now I'm building a rotation of Sebenzas. For the price of the CRK grail of mine I just purchased, I could have instead bought a number of different custom knives, yet I chose the Sebenza again without hesitation.

Haha I even went out and bought a Thorburn flipper. Amazing action and buttery smooth with great details. For some reason compared to my sebenzas it doesn't fit me.

What did you order just out of curiousity? I like the feel of certain knives and the look but in the end I carry just a few others and collect more of the sebenzas instead.

I have no idea what your point is. Many thoughts regarding his issue along with recommendations were posted in that thread, which is completely irrelevant to this one.
I'm not sure I understand either. I guess the guy bought a knife that had had a blade swapped out. I don't blame CRK for that.

I'm not sure I can say on here where I ordered. If you're interested, to be safe, PM me and I'll gladly tell you where I purchased from.

Ah, I STILL misread the post LOL. Sorry about that. I had an $850 Medford Arktika. Just wasn't for me.

No worries. Thanks for the response!

It looks like a tank of a knife, but certainly no slicer of a Sebenza. My first really nice knife was a ZT 0801, and while I look upon it fondly, I now know, thanks to CRK, that I don't need a knife that thick to be a lifetime quality knife.
