I'm new to the world of collecting custom Japanese style knives. I currently have a wide variety of production Japanese influenced knives, but no customs. I searched before I made my first purchase. I wanted something that was pleasing to the eye, well made, durable, and at a good price.
Knifemaker Mike Snody seems to offer many wonderful knives that fit my desires. I received my first Mike Snody knife today---- the Karma Kubikiri. This is a great little Japanese style knife. It has a 4" matte and satin finished blade out of A-2. The chisel grind is on the proper side of the blade. The handle is white ray skin with a black cord wrap, and comes with a custom fitted kydex sheath.
Overall the knife is impressive. If you're looking for knives in the Japanese style, then don't overlook Mike Snody. I don't have picture capabilities, but you need to check out his knife called the Narita Kwaiken. His Bushido blade is also worth consideration.
My savings account will never increase as long as good custom knives are available!

I must say you made a good choice.. I have my Snody "Ronin Kozuka" under a pit rig right now. I was VERY disaapointed

that I was not able to go to Triple Aught Design to personally handle other of Mr. Snody's works, but maybe that is for the better. I am on a budget. The narita Kwaiken looks quite nice especially with the same skin under it..

Mr. Snody will be going places. Hopefully I can still afford him when he becomes big

Bimmer... I had the chance to meet with him at the Chesapeake show and handled a few of his knives, his table always seemed to draw a crowd there! He is a very personable kind of guy and his wife was lovely as well, nice couple! He was pretty tired as the room above them the night before had somekind of PARTY going on ALL night long, so he really lacked for sleep, but was at the show and still kind enough to answer questions...

I placed an order at the show and can't wait for it's delivery, a small knife in CPM3V satin finish with cordwrap and rayskin with a Menuki as well.

Good Choice I'd say!
