Today I received the SOG Trident that I traded my Bill Siegle Bowie for just a couple of days ago, and I'm pretty much speechless. This (Seki-Japan) Trident is VERY EXCELLENT, and is a VERY stout knife!!! (I've even changed my "favorite knife" in my BF profile :D). I've also read (here at BF) where alot of people thought that the nylon sheath sucks, but I like it!

Along with the Trident, I also received a SOG Tomcat, and I'm also VERY PLEASED with this STOUT folder!!

BOTH of these SOG knives are totally amazing!, and make a GREAT pair!.:).:).:).

Yes, I love mine too...:D ;)

Water your Tomcat and it will grow.:p
Get your hands on a Team Leader, you'll love it.
The Tomcat is wonderful knife. It started put me on the fast track to the poor house (i.e. knife collecting...)

Bobby B,

I think that I received a "special" Trident; Mine has GOLD-colored spacers. They AREN'T "yellowed with age"...They ARE an even gold-color! (And it looks really cool against the black micarta handle and stainless guard & pommel.).

Dann,
Pics? I haven't seen one of those...blurry pictures, yes, but not the knife...

Edited for stupidity... notice how short the post is...

Dann,

Congrats on your new additions. If I think my Seal 2000 is impressive then your Trident must be Maximus impressive. Will it be a user or safe queen?

Gord.

Leemah1,
I'm not going to be chopping-down hardwood trees or cutting up sidewalks with it, but it's not going to sit in my gun (knife) safe, either. I look at the Trident as a "fighter", so I REALLY hope I never to have to use it!.:).

Bobby B,
I'll shoot a couple picts of it with my POS Vivitar digital camera tomorrow, and see about posting the best one, IF I can figure-out my photo software...:(.
(BTW...That gawd-awful blurry pict wasn't one that I took!.:).).
And, I DID try to clean the gold-spacers, and they are STILL a NICE gold-color.

Dann,
I thought they did have yellow(ish) spacers before, the older ones I have seen on E-Bay, etc...
It really is a very nice looking knife, isn't it? All you need now is the leather handled set to go with it...;) ...It really is the proverbial slippery slope...

If you have your usual problem posting pictures, email them to me and I'll post them for you! ;) (Both serious and giving you crap! :D ) Nothing I can do, though, for the person taking the pictures. He has to take his finger away from in front of the lense.

Where the heck's my manners? Dann, congrats on picking up two of SOG's most classic, formidable, and “tanklike” knives!

Regarding the yellow spacers, I’ve not personally ever seen a knife like this, I have heard a couple customers inquire about it in the past, and I have quizzed Spencer to see if he has any unique insight. He has assured me that he has no knowledge of Tridents configured this way and never ordered yellow spacers on this knife. Dann, if you say they are there (and I believe you), I can only guess that maybe the knifemaker substituted some yellow spacers for reasons unknown on a few knives.

I seen and handled "zillions" of Tridents. You certainly have a rarely configured one.

I have no experience with the Trident...but CONGRATS on the Tomcat!!!!!

I hope you have some kind of heavy duty belt though if you plan on carrying it that way. That thing is heavy!;)

Ron,

The 2 spacers aren't yellow, they're GOLD-colored. (I even looked in my Crayon box to make-sure I had the two colors correct, before I posted...LOL!!.:D.:D.).

BOK,

I think I'm going to wear my Trident as a neck-knife.:D.:D.

Hey Glockman...

Yaaa the Trident is a sweet blade..
I'm not one much for Bowies,,but this one is different....

BTW..
I have one Concealex Trident sheath left, if you are interested...

Oh, you have the "Gold" ones (not the "yellow") ... That changes everything. The Trident with the gold spacers is your ticket into Willy Wonka's factory for your private tour! ;) :D Sorry ... I couldn't resist myself! I allowed my sarcastic, facetious alter ego out for a moment.

Gold, yellow, eggshell, banana, manila, mustard, off-white  ...Actually, if the color is “Crayola” GOLD, I think that would be a really cool color that would enhance the appearance of an already stunning knife! I can’t wait to see the pictures!

glockman 99: Ahhh.. to be blessed with the ownership of such quality knives is indeed a blessing from heaven.
Enjoy, and I do hope you realize that 'using' a golden spacer Trident in any event would certainly not add to the overall collector value.

Krizzard, out.

Congrats on your new knives,

Tomcat, one of my favorite folders. I also have the one without the thumbstud. I think the blade is heavy enough that you don't need one. How you gonna yours??? Most people carry theirs horizontal but it really varies whether its waist side or back side.

After looking-through the SOG catalog, I realized that there isn't an "old model" of the Tomcat (and I edited my original post above to reflect that)....What I ASSumed was a "new-model" Tomcat is where SOG changed the blade-style, added a thumb-stud on the Tomcat, and named it the "Sidewinder II". Being a "lefty", I think I'm going to have to launch a search for one of those screw-on "bandit" thumb-studs for my Tomcat...IF I can find one to fit that THICK blade.:).

Dann,
Actually there IS a new model Tomcat... called Tomcat II (VERY original... )

The Original Tomcat has the nailnick, and is also shown on the SOG website, just to confuse things...
