I round / blunt my tips when sharpening

I keep rounding or blunting the tips on my pocket knives when I try to sharpen them. (with belt sander)

What am I doing wrong and how do I fix the tips

Well...dont round or blunt the tips...

Sounds like you are just pulling the edge straight across the belt. When you get to the belly of the blade you need to pull up on the handle.

Also, as you get more towards the tip of the blade. Try lessening the pressure on it.

The edge becomes more obtuse towards the tip. This is only a small section that is affected, think 3/16" of edge.
