I saw a strange knife today, it was a very expensive Kershaw, anyone know about these

It was a folder with about a 3.5" recurve blade. It appeared to have Aluminum or Ti scales with what appeared to be black Kraton inlays and used the speedsafe assisted opening. It had a CPM440V blade and was one of 250 numbered production. It also had a very strange lock that was released by pressing a small protruding button on the front of the left scale. The button slides back into the scale parallel to the blade, not like a Microtech auto button on the side. The price was $350.00 but I didn't catch the model.

Has anyone seen one of these? What's with the lock?

But I notice on the 1SKS site, there's no mention of lock type.

Does anyone know what lock is used on this special edition Whisper? Is it the same as used on all Whispers?

If you look at this 1st picture you can see the lock at the top of the handle inline with kershaw on the blade, you depress it unlock the blade for closing. It actually works well. The ones I have seen look very nice, milled titanium handles, 3" CPM 440V hand rubbed blade, very sharp out of the box, extremly well made knife from Kershaw, I beleive they are limited to a run of 250 which is sad because it is easily the nicest knife Kershaw ever put out but a bit pricey for a Kershaw also.

Oh yea it also comes with this really nice display stand.

The Whisper uses the Ken Onion designed Vault Lock. I think all the knives will use it, it has been a while in coming from introduction to production.

Any details? The button only moves a small amount. I'd be surprised if it's more than .125". It seems like less than .100" travel.

The SpeedSafe flipper seems a little longer than on things like the Leek on this knife. Is ther any reason for the apparent hook just below the edge on the front side of the flipper/guard?

My Kershaw Boa has a similar "hook" which can be engaged by a sliding safety bar on the back of the knife to lock the blade closed.
