Well after making knives as a hobby for about 9 years, I 'discovered' Paul's sheaths earlier this year and was so taken by them I had to swing by his place and have him show me how to make them.
I also managed to aquire his Landis P-30 after he got his new Cobra splitter. This thing is amazing! It looks like the gear cover may have been touched up, but other than that (and a re-sharpened blade), it appears all original and Mint!! I didn't even have to clean it! Splits leather like butter. Paul also had the original parts list and instruction sheet (dated 1959) which he gave me too. Can't wait to start crankin' out custom sheaths with this baby, hope some of Paul's magic rubs off...
Thanks once again Paul!!!
Rgds,
Mark

That post made me smile, Mark. I'm glad you are getting along with it. As we discussed I think the thing was brand new when I aquired it those many years ago.

I enjoyed getting a chance to get to meet your wife, and I hope the camping trip was enjoyable. My wife had an absolute fit over your wife's cookies. Thanks again for that.

Be sure to post some photos of your work here and add your name to the sheath maker's list at the top in the "sticky" section. The quality of your work deserves a lot of exposure.

You know you are welcome in the shop any time you have the time to make the short drive.

Welcome to the forums Mark!

Congrats on the splitter as well! I hope you do show off some work, I look forward to seeing it. :)

Thanks guys!
Paul, the camping was great... but just a little bit cold. I think it's time for a camper, I'm getting too old to sleep on the ground. Lost Maples is a really nice park. Glad y'all liked the cookies!
Pics coming in a few days, as well as well as a sheath or two for sale....
Rgds,
Mark

Ooh! Lost Maples is a nice location! Been through there and Lost Pines.

Lost Pines is close to the heart from living for a short while among the Ponderosa Pines in New Mexico. :)

Hello & Happy New Year!! Mark

I was surfing the internet looking for info on the Landis Splitter when i saw a link that brought me to this site and i read your post here so i would like to ask you if there is any possibility that you could post or send me a copy of the instruction sheet for the splitter?? I would be willing to compensate you for any expense you may incur.... Also that is a Very Nice looking splitter you got there and if you don't mind i would like to know what you paid for it?? Thanks Bill :)

Hello & Happy New Year Paul!!

I have just joined this site because i was looking for info on the Landis splitter and it lead me to a link that brought me to this forum.. I read the post from knifeleather/Mark telling of the nice splitter he just scored from you because you had received a new Cobra 14 and i would like to know how you like it?? Thanks... Bill

Well, Bill I like the Cobra 14 well enough to let the Landis 30 go to its new home so translated that means I like the Cobra a lot and I am confident now after use that it will do the job as perfectly as is possible. I got the motorized version of the C14 and that included the nice stand/table along with the servo motor. It is also available in the "head only" configuration which is hand crank powered. The 14 inch capacity is much appreciated after being limited to 6 inches on the Landis. If you have a need for a splitter and can justify the price, I recommend the Cobra 14 whole heartedly.

Paul

Howdy Bill, I'll scan the instructions and send them to you email, give me a day or two. FYI Paul showed me his Cobra 14, very sweet machine and I'm sure I'll get one sooner or later as well.
Rgds,
Mark
