Long story short, found this site a few months ago, and wanted to buy my first 'decent' knife.

Picked up a SOG flash II for a song, and had it refurbed @ the factory for a few more dollars. Just didn't do it for me though; threw it in a drawer.

Few weeks later, picked up a Spydie Tenacious off Amazon. Great Knife!

2 days ago, I get the bright idea to sell both and upgrade. To what? Hell I don't know.

Now I'm about to be knife-less in 3 days, and I need something in the $100ish range. I'm seeing just what a value that Tenacious is.

I want to love the para, it gets such rave fanfare here, but that blade shape seems to just kill it for me.

At this point it's looking like Manix2. Maybe a pink one :)

Suggestions?

Manix 2 is a great option. If you can go just a little bit over $100 and can find good prices, the Benchmade 710, ZT 0200, and Spyderco Gayle Bradley would be my picks.

manix 2 is a very good knife. I like the para 2 more, but if the manix 2 appeals to you, that's the one you should get.

Got my father a manix 2 for Christmas this year, it's a lotta knife... I'll get around to buying one someday

The Manix 2 is great. Just got one last week and love it so far. Great fit and finish, super smooth and nice solid lock-up. Kinda' heavy but I like the heft... And if you like jimping, look no more. :D

+1 another vote for the Manix 2

It's my first Spydie, just got it a couple of weeks ago, and got my first nasty cut with the thing! :D

If it were me i would look for a Manix 2 with a full flat grind. I don't think it matter a whole lot if it isn't, but i just like the FFG look better.

I want to like the para, but just can't get the blade shape.

I absolutely prefer the FFG, which has me anxiously awaiting the release of the translucent blue manix2.

Good choice on the Manix2. It was the first of many Spydies for me, and remains one of my favorites. That said you may also want to look at some of the Benchmade axis lock knives. The Griptillian definetly falls into your price range and you can probably find a 707 in the 100 range too.

If you handled a para you would soon forget about the blade shape. Absolute brilliant design and is one of my all time favs, even over the manix 2.

Sorry to muddy the water again, but the para deserves a chance.
