I was putting together my Darrel Ralph 605 folder kit, and I was almost done, when I seem to have really screwed up. I had the scales attached to the liners, along with the bolsters so that I could shape them. After I was all done, I went to take the scales off, so I could screw everything together, and be just about done, when I stripped the heads on both screws, and now I can't figure out how to get the scale off. I need to take it off in order to attach the back spacers. Any ideas? I also lost one of the screws for the back spacers, so I need to find out what size they are and where to get some. I would really appreciate any help, I am so close to done with it, and it turned out very nice, it is so frustrating knowing all I have to do to finish it is to take two screws out, and put four back in and then it would be done.
thanks in advance for any ideas.

All I can do is tell you what I do.
I take a dremal an carfully (using a very small (.032dia) bit cut a slot in the screws. Then remove them with a screwdriver.
Another way is to drill out the head of the screw
This is tricky. Try a 3/32 drill.
Good luck

OK Darrel, I drilled the heads of the screws, and popped the scale off with out ruining anything, now I need to know what size the screws for the scales are, and what size the screws for the spacers are, and where to find them? thanks for the help.

Now you have two options. The first, and most expensive and time consuming would be to order a replacement kit of screws from Koval. they sell packs that include all the screws necessary for completing a 605.
The other alternative is to grab the liners, take off all the loose hardware, screws, scales, pivot pin etc. so they don't get lost and take the liners to a lowes or home depot or other hardware store.Lowes has a bunch of drawers in their hardware section that are full of miniature machine screws, and other hardware like that. You'll probably have to get phillips head screws but the right size should be there. Theres usually one or two packages ripped open in each compartment so you can just try them until you find the size that fits. you'll prbably have to buy a dozen of each size you need but its about 50 cents or less per package. Chances are they'll be the wrong length but you can cut them a little long and file them down without much damage of ruining the threads.
Hope it works out.

Thanks Matt,
I already went to two big hardware stores in my town, but neither had a screw that would work, there is a home depot being built right now, they should open within a couple of months. I didn't know about the replacement screw kits. there must be other people as dumb as me if they sell those.

Building anything is sometimes just a series of steps to fix your mistakes. That's how DDR knew the answer so fast! I bought the extra screw kit at the same time as the first 605, I just knew I'd need it. Haven't screwed up or even dropped a screw yet, just because I had spares handy.

The threads are 1-72 for the handle scales.
Not a real common thread.
The extra screw kit was developed for the simple reason that if you screw up , You have the hardware to fix it.
If not you can use the original screws for the next kit(after you buger them up) as assemble screws. This way your knife has fresh screws that are not burred for final assemble.
Then use the old ones on a new kit until final assembly, the put the fresh one back in as the final again . So on and so on..
