I see why you have so many spydies.

Gah!

The tenacious is an awesome knife.

I thought I'd upgrade to a translucent blue manix2. Love the looks and the blade shape.

Then I stumble across the superleaf. This is worse than being an 8 year old in a candy store with only $2.00!

Just wish I could get it in a sprint style; with different color handles. Perfect knife for me however, love everything about it!

Tenacious was my first as well, and it lit the fire that's still burning strong. Wait until you get some higher-end ones in your hands..even though the Tenacious is a great knife, it doesn't hold a candle many of my other spydies IMO. Of course when I got it, it seemed like the most perfect knife possible. For the money it is superb, great for entry level. I guess you could call it a gateway spydie :D

PS-I'm picking up a superleaf in the next month, once I have some spare cash (I've got a few ahead of it in the pipeline). Since getting the Para 2 last month, I'm seriously digging the comp. lock. And the big choil, awesomely structured ergos and thick blade of the superleaf really turn me on.

Hey all, my first post on this forum - been lurking for a while getting educated on brands, steels, sharpening tools and techniques, etc. Been a knife nut for a long time though.

I was reading so much about Spyderco on this forum and I'd never even seen one of their knives in person. I have CRKT, Kershaw, Cold Steel, Becker, Queen, SOG, and Benchmade knives - but no spydies (til now)

So, I figure I gotta see what all the fuss is about - I dip my toe in and get a Tenacious - wow! Very impressive for such a great price. The FFG is great and I reprofiled that down to about 10 degrees per side and it is screaming sharp.

OK, so it's not long (3-4 weeks) before I gotta see what a higher end Spydie is all about. Last week I ordered a Para 2 and a Manix 2 (all black) and got both this week (Tuesday and yesterday) - I was blown away with the quality, F&F, sharpness out of the box, ergos, everything. These are the two best knives that I have now. I see why you all have so many spydies, too :D

I started with the Tenacious two years ago as well. Since then I've added half a dozen more with my eyes set on more very soon. What a great company.

When you said "I thought I'd upgrade to a translucent blue manix2. Love the looks and the blade shape."

Did that mean you pre-ordered one or actually have one? I preordered mine over a month ago and have yet to hear anything.

I never used to understand people's interest in Spyderco - they were sort of neat looking to me and I saw a lot of copy-cat knives that were cheaper generics, but I hated the spyderweb zytel handles and wondered what the big deal was.

Then I started looking for a good pocket knife based on functionality and value for what I was spending (and reading/watching reviews). All roads led back to Spyderco. Then I started finding that Spyderco makes knives with carbon fiber, aluminum, and G10 scales - then it was all over for me.

I was looking at a SuperLeaf, but ended up getting a Gayle Bradley - kind of wish I had just stuck with a smaller knife (I also picked up a Sage in CF - it is the perfect pocket knife in my opinion).

I like my Kershaws, and I'm trying out a Benchmade right now (never been a huge fan), but I've not been as impressed with any folder as I have been with these Spydercos.

I'm probably going to end up with a Caly3, a Mini Manix and a few others, but I'm really digging Spyderco's 3" blades.

I had a similar introduction to Spyderco. My knife interests started when I bought a knife from a friend about five years ago. I'll just say the knife maker has a three letter acronym for their name. I ended up getting a couple more after that but just like you, the more I read about different steels and talking to some youtubers who compare knives in their videos, I realized I had to try Spyderco out. They just didn't have an appealing look at first because I was used to seeing the more traditional (boring) designs.

My first Spyderco was a Native, which I found a little funny, and the bug bit me hard. Once I had it in my hands I fell in love and immediately started looking at the other models and now, months later, I own several and have sold off my knives made from that other brand. The quality between the brands overall and what you get for your money is astronomically in Spyderco's favor.

All I have to say to anyone who doesn't like the look of Spyderco knives is: "Hold one, your hand will fall in love and convince your eyes to do the same. When you realize the level of design quality, craftsmanship and materials for your money, you'll never look back."

I also started on Spydies with the Tenacious. A year and a half later I'm close to filling a large Spyderpac (holds 30 knives).

It's worse than crack.

My first post, my first knife - Tenacious, and 3 more spydies on their way in the mail. I'm addicted.

I would have to say that Spyderco is my favorite brand. I have a couple Benchmades because I really like the axis lock though.

I recently just bought a Para 1 and Para 2... These knives blow me away. If you haven't gotten your hands on a Paramilitary yet, you need to. I can honestly say it's my favorite Spyderco so far.

I can also say that I like the compression lock as much or more than the axis lock. This Para 2 is just a dream to open and close and I'm really really digging the digi-camo and black blade, but that's most likely because it's just different from all my other black handle/satin blade knives.

My biggest problem now is trying to decide which one to put in my pocket when I walk out the door...

The Tenacious is incredible. The F&F belongs on a knife 3 or 4x the price, the materials are great, the edge runs the entire length of the blade, making it longer than a Manix 1!
The steel is relatively soft but easy to touch up, and takes a great edge. The clip is great, the ergonomics, the liner... And then the price!
If they'd make it with a premium steel it would be the best knife in its size class, AFAIC I'd prefer it over the Manix 2, THAT is how good I think the Tenacious is.

After owning so many Spydercos and counting, I confirm that Spyderco knife is the best in terms of innovation, quality and value. Keep up the good work Spyderco!
