I had to sharpen my Super CQC-7 and my Commander, two VERY different blades. I've never sharpened a knife by myself, so I read the how-to on the Emerson website and bought a cylindrical sharpening rod, medium grit.

I sharpened the single grind on each knife on the stone, then did one swipe to remove the burr on the other side. Then I stropped it on the back of a cardboard notepad, and....failed. So I tried it again. Both knives will shave hair, are burr free, and look like they'll stay sharp for a while.

It's not very hard, don't be afraid!

I find its best to never let knives get dull, if you touch up the edge with a fine ceramic rod and strop it regularly you will have a super sharp edge all the time.

I realise this is not always convenient or possible but if you can i think its the best way to keep them singing.

I just use a fine ceramic at the end of the work day, my blade is always very sharp.
When I bought my cqc10 I carried it for a week I did not like it, I went back to my Strider SMF after the second week, carried the Strider on day and missed the Emerson. It is now my goto blade, I love this Emerson knife.
