I have a Yojimbo 2 and love it, its one of my most carried knives for edc. Perfect for Colorado. I like small fixed blades quite a bit and wanted to buy one by Spyderco. The Ronin 2 looked awesome but was to big for me to legally conceal in Colorado.
I decided to buy one and shorten it. To keep it legal it has to be 3.5 or less. So I took mine down about 1/32nds of an inch under 3.5 inches total blade length. That left me 3 inches of sharpened blade.
I used a 2x42 belt sander with a fine belt to remove most of it then finished by hand with 220, 400, 1000, 1500 and 2000 grit sandpaper. I was VERY careful not to get the blade hot. I took my time with it, about 1 second at a time on the belt sander then quickly into the water. I never discolored the metal at all.
The shorter blade does have a little movement in the sheath but not much. I dont notice it rattling or making any noise when on my belt and it seems just as secure in the sheath as before.
I am very happy with it like this.
