Was toying around with my 2 in the yard while my son played.

on my back porch i have a trellis built and has wisteria growing up the columns. well i was chopping at the wisteria since i hate it and its already starting to grow again.

lo and behold there were 2 nails that had been left in the columns under the wisteria.

i chopped right through both of them and while I didnt even realize they were there the knife now has 3 dents in the blade:barf:

ive been resanding since last night and got it buffed out but for the most part now looks like a serration.

I'm just so pissed at myself right now

Did the same thing to junglas chopping apart some old 2x4's took a little while with a diamond stone to hone it out !!

Ouch, that sucks. Please take some photos of the finished product.

If you can talk about a "good part" in this, is that you now know for sure that your blade can handle rough times!!!

I'm interested to see as well. I figured a couple of 16penny nails would not bother the edge much, after watching Ethan beat one of these through a 55gallon drum.

Would very much like to see pics, muchacho.

What matters is the instantaneous pressure exerted. Driving a thin edge against a small diameter nail likely exerted more pressure on the edge than Ethan ever did when he beat that drum.

That's what I wanted to say, but I only had poetic language at my command and no dead physicists immediately available for channeling. :p

Hey, now! I'm still alive ... sort of.:)

As for the Big E ... it's all relative.:D

Sucks to do something like that, but those will fade and become fond memories. Just a small scar, the knife is fine and ready for more.

Stab yourself in the thigh with the remaining blade, and trust me, you'll forget all about those love marks on your knife. :D :D

Good point. Well put. I can see that, thanks OP, good to have someone with your brain, walking these halls.

Brains? Not so much. Good training, though.:) [The education was also pretty good ... though I fought it all along the way.]

sounds like it will buff out.

think fondly of killing the wisteria though :)

might as well rip it all out, remove the trellis too ;)

Gives it character bro, don't sweat it. That stuff happens when you use them. Leave em' on there and then you won't hesitate to push them hard. Besides chicks dig scars.
