Ok so I didint really steal it.... But its no secret some of us, well at least me have a hard time turning down what I always think is a good deal. So pretty much any fair priced knife. I hit a local antique shop where the older guy that works in there is always waiting for me and points out any new knives they might have in the store. So he pointed to a cabinent that was empty a month ago( Probablly cause I bought most of the knives out of it). anyway there was a boker tree brand knife in there with a $5 dollar price tag on it. I just figured the blades were sharpened down to nothing. but when I opened it it was full blades and appearded to be hardly used, probablly carried a lot but blades were awesome with lots of nice patina. The best part of this was that I have many knives but no bokers. I think the number on it is "8361". well just wanted to share my story.- Joel

That's a bit rough for my Collecting/Accumulating taste, but for $5 that'd be a heck of a user. :thumbup:

It might be a bit rough but even with just enough cleaning to freshen it without removing the patina and it would be very nice indeed. The scales have great character and the blades should clean up nicely with lots of oil and light application of 0000 steel wool.

Would be proud to have it in my collection...

Thanks Absintheur, I appreciate that. I'll do that.- Joel

Nice find. I have never stopped at the antique shop we have in town. Never thought of it for knives. I got to stop in sometime. And find if there are any pawn shops around.

Just remember use a light touch...you want to remove the rust scale only. 0000 with oil is pretty gentle, I use it on blued firearms without damage but go easy.

I never have any luck in antique shops, and only one pawnshop here in Indiana ever has anything decent. I suspect there are some old farts who have nothing to do going into these places daily and hoovering up anything nice...lol.

Well I am one of them. LOL. Well I am not old. But I do not work. So I could go often and check. If I am feeling up to it.

Great find!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I woudln't even clean it up too much, just oil the joints, sharpen it up and carry and use well. That patina is too good to mess with. Thats a great old scout knife. It deserves pocket time and carrying out in the world. Pop open a few nice imported German beers with it!

What jackknife said. +1:thumbup:

That is a great looking knife. And the 'rough' look, makes it even better.:thumbup:

That bone looks top-notch frankly. 5 dollars you say??? Even got an old school price-tag....

Im going to my local antique store today. That is a great find and I wouldnt clean it up a bit just oil it and sharpen it. It still has years of use left in it.

Joel, Great find! I've been using a product called "Break Free " on the blade joints, letting it sit and working the blades once or twice a day. The stuff really does work a lot of crud out. Again, great find and nice looking knife! Dale H.

Nice find. Lots of "character". I like the scales and the shield is in good shape. I think I would sharpen and carry it as well!

man you got ripped off............i'll give ya $6 for it so you can sleep better knowing the old guy didn't take advantage of you.;)

forgot to add im my last post that i agree %100......guy go to all the trouble with mustard and mayonaise and any other concoction they can come up with to achieve the same patina, you got it naturally, i wouldn't dare touch a thing but for the edge!!
