I finally gathered the courage to strip my 9! It definitely was more work than I thought it would be.
I also sharpened it up to a hair-whittling convex edge with my belt sander. Here are some pics for you guys.

Hopefully you can see how the edge looks.
I sanded the flats to smooth out a few of the grind marks. Oregon Fal-er's tutorial for leaving the coating on underneath the scales was also used. I think it worked well.
