I suppose it's just best not to even get out of bed some days.

Glad he survived the attacks. That would really suck big time. I think that bear is just asking for a bullet and I would have provided one during the second encounter regardless of the consequences.
 
Once a bear is accustomed to humans it is essentially a dead bear as there is little chance it will return to natural foraging. We had a black bear stalking the neighborhood for about a month, there was a loud bang coming from the neighbors the other night. No more problem bear, only that freezer space is very limited.
