I suppose this means I'll have to do more of the cooking.

I've been wanting some new kitchen knives for quite some time since the set my wife already had is all serrated.
So I ordered a set of Becker/ESEE kitchen knives for about $50 on Amazon,(great price!!) and since it meant I'd be cooking more often, my wife was perfectly fine with my new purchase.

The tracking info said the expected delivery would be on Wednesday, but I figured I'd check the tracking today just in case it was early.
To my surprise the tracking info said it was delivered Saturday.
I frantically searched front, and back porches, outside the house, and in the car, trucks, and garage(yes, our mailman has left packages in all those places:rolleyes:)
And after ranting about the U.S.Postal Service for 15 minutes, or so, my wife suggested I check between the front door and screen door.
To my relief, and bit of embarrassment, I found the package safely wedged between the doors.(we seldom even open the front door during the colder months)

Since it was about time for lunch I figured I give them a try, and cut up some onions, and peppers for the frying pan.
The knives were scary sharp right out of the package, so I used them with extra care.
Despite my err on the side of caution, I still managed to nick my thumb.

Barely touched the edge of the blade to my skin, but it still bled for quite some time.
I knew it was bound to happen anyways.:D

Both my wife, and I are happy with the new purchase though, for different reasons of coarse.
I'll probably be doing all the cooking for the next week or so, but I got away with buying 4 new knives without having to hide them from the wife.;)

They are great, even my wife loves them, my mother in law has cut herself twice with them so I don't think she uses them anymore.

Lee, admit it, that is part of the reason you love them!

Acer, I have a set too, I love them! I use them all the time, and I even give them out to several people. Get a good steel to keep them that same scary sharp.

I bought several sets last year and sent them to Peru. My brother in law owns several restaurants in Cuzco and Lima, and uses them. I recently bought a few more sets for $44.95 as gifts....they are the best value out there for a cooking knife set.

Glad to hear I am not the only one that hides knife purchases from my wife, lol. "No hunny this isn't new, you;ve seen this one before remember?"

I have to say it's much easier to hide a new knife from my wife than it is to hide a new gun.
It's always best when I don't have to hide something and hear crap about it.
That doesn't happen often though.

Nice! Enjoy cooking more, I certainly am! And I can't wait for christmas day because I know I am getting a set of those bad boys from my parents. Watch your fingers! :)

I want to visit your BIL...

I got a set for the wife for xmas. My plan is to get rid of all the other so called knives in the drawer and only have the ESSEs and BK5 in the kitchen.

Congrats on the new set of knives. They are fantastic and with the price being down around $45, now, there are a couple of sets in my house that will be going to relatives this Christmas.

So far, mine have only bit my wife. Practice good technique and your hands will thank you.
