Having used the ferric acid on the Hudson Bay knife I recently made, I thought I'd do one of my other O1 knives with it. This one is my hunting/woods knife and since it was already stained from an earlier deer hunt I thought I'd dip it. I made this knife almost 2 years ago and forgot I had edge quenched it. It came out with a cool hamon/temper line. Thought I'd share a pic.

It will wear with use but the temper line will always be there. It shows the difference between the hard edge and softer back.

That looks sweet bro. Lovin it!

hollowdweller, am I seeing that right? It looks like you got the grind line to match perfectly with the hamon.... very cool! I'm guessing you acheived such an even temper line with clay?

Scott,
I like that ferric thingy..Gotta try that sometime myself!!!

Hollow,
sweet knife bro..is that one of Ariels?

HD, looks great. Like Gibson said, looks clay hardened. Dave, I'm having fun with the ferric acid. Really makes a knife look rustic.:)

No there is no grind line on that knife it is a full convex with the highest point being about where the line is.

Ariel Salaverra made the knife but after I got a bunch of rust on it camping Dan Koster re ground the blade to a much finer (and more useable) edge and then re etched it for me. It truly has one of the most awesome convex edges of any of my blades.

You oughta etch more of yours Razorback. That one looks very cool!
