Today, I received the gift from Carl, my very first traditional slipjoint. I don't even know what pattern it is, but that knife simply is gorgeous.

Thanks again to every one who got me into the wonderful world of slipies, and to Carl who donated this beauty.

Oh wow! That's amazing.

A bullet end jack with a bottle opener secondary? Is that last year's forum knife?

By Golly, Ive been looking for that knife!!! If anyone has one for sale, please let me know! Thanks

That's the 2011 traditional forum knife, with the GEC #85 frame.
I can assure you that this will make plenty of people here envious, enjoy it :D

Wow, great looking knife! And a very nice gesture on the part of Carl. Enjoy it! I cant get enough of those spear points!

Yes, that is indeed the 2011 forum knife. It was gifted to me by one of our great mods, and I put about a years carry and use on it. But it is just a bit big for my taste. So in the spirit it was gifted to me, I chose to pass it on to a young guy starting out so he'd know what a good traditional knife feels like. It has a great thin blade of 1095, so it cuts great. I hope Nick will enjoy it as I have.

Carl.

Oh man! your a lucky guy! I envy you...Lol, Ive been looking for one of those, looks like it would be by far my favourite annual bladeforums traditional knife.

They're very nice knives, and a very kind gesture too.

Time to find some beer or cider!

Enjoy that one Nick, as many posted above it is a much desired and sought after knife ;)

Way to go Carl, just a fantastic gift on your part :thumbup::thumbup:

Great knife, welcome to my favorite place in the world. Carl is just one of the many many great people who make this place what it is! And yes I, along with most everyone else , would love to have one. You will quickly find out how much better this knife is than any tacticool knife ever made. That thin carbon blade should cut like a dream compared to most modern stuff

Well done Carl, outstanding gesture. Welcomes don't come any better than this.

Duncan gifted me the same knife, a gesture that made a huge amount to me, and it's a great knife.

Find out a little about your knife and the company who made it Nick, and I hope you enjoy using it. You have another fantastic knife on the way to you as I recall. Two great acts of generosity from two of our fine members here :)
