dropped into a knife dealer lookin for a new folder.. after looking at a ton of knives spyderco, chris reeve, Kershaw ect.. I always find myself leaning over the benchmade glass for my final decision. and on top of that I found myself in love with the 908 stryker II. I have been using an old stryker I bought used in 2002 and its still rockin. this new one has the axis lock, but like my old one its slim, fast, only 4.38oz, sharp as hell, and awesome traction g10.. I LOVE this blade, who else feels this way :)

Purchased my 908 for all the same reasons. I just wish it was available before I got a 551, because I hate the scales on that one. The stock scales on the 908 are great.

Just get some custom/aftermarket g10 for your 551.

I still will never pay 150.00 for a pocket knife lol!

You need to find a Kershaw forum, BM is fairly overpriced. I get nearly all of mine off of the Exchange. No way I will pay their asking prices out of pocket. I did recently order a 940-1 but I sold a couple of knives that I never used to fund it. The BM Grip was the only BM I ever bought new outright and that was nearly four years ago for $72.

You should go to CRK forum tell them how you would never pay $400 for a knife. They'd have a blast with you.

I really do love the Axis Stryker I have the large tanto version, but I don't really like tantos all that much. I'm trying to sell it and maybe get the drop point version.

NAh! Granted don't get me wrong bench made knives are sexy as hell and look well made but I'd rather pay in the 50-70.00 range!

I have no problem with my Kershaw ken onion vapor II.

For sure, LOL. Everyone sets their price limit in their head for what they'll pay for a knife. Some guys will only buy knives at big box stores, others all the way up to thousands. A Bose slip joint pocket knife, secondhand, is over 2k. Wow.

One of the nice things about the knife hobby. There is something for everyone, and room for all.

Buy what you enjoy, spend responsible in your budget, and be happy. This "I wouldn't pay" argument will go on forever. I do enjoy reading how some folks get all worked up cause someone else thinks knife XYZ is worth paying $XYZ to have. Like that guy on TV says, it's your money, use it when you need it. Lol.

True quality is recognized over time. I have owned several folders in the last 15 years, of my 5 "cheap" folders, just one has survived falling apart under heavy use and it now rattles pretty bad. my benchmade I got in 2002 is still smooth and tight. those 4 $35 knives could have bought a benchmade and I would still have it long into the future.

I would say however, that I have had lots of luck with what I think of as mid grade knives $50-$100 range (like my Kershaw)

Excellent pocket knife; my 909 when new:

Handled a 908 and intend to purchase one sooner than later.
