The Victorinox Spirit "S"! I have a leatherman charge ti and there are little things about it that I do not like. One being the short bit driver and two being the tiny "useless" eyeglass driver". I always had my eye on the Victorinox Spirit but dismissed it because it lacked a traditional plain edged blade.

When I heard news of an "S" model I was ecstatic. It has a plain edged traditional Victorinox blade in place of the scissors. I quickly ordered one and it arrived today. It has everything I want and need and nothing that I don't. The quality is definitely a step above Leatherman. It's not widely available here in the US yet but you can easily get it off ebay.

Better yet, you can get it from FelineVet who is here on the forums and who offers excellent prices, terrific service and the profits go to his charitable feline vet assistance organization. Just drop him an email at fveap@earthlink.net and tell him what you're looking for.

I believe the "S" has a standard Victorinox spear point knife blade in place of the pointless (no pun intended) serateded blade the current Spirit has. Perhaps someone who has one can tell us if there is any other differences?

Personally, I like the blade on the orginal Spirit because I always carry a SAK anyway and so it is useful to have a different type of blade on the Spirit.

I wasn't too impressed with the scissors on the Spirit anyway, but that is still a big issue for me as I use the scissors quite a lot. So the "S" would not be my perfect tool.:(

ARGH!!! Why didn't they leave the scissors, and replace that serrated spatula instead?? Harumpf. THAT would be a major improvement IMHO.

I'd love to see a Spirit that has a traditional Vic blade but retains scissors. I recently ground off the serrations of my Spirit knife blade, and I prefer it that way.
