I think I got a deal

A few days ago, I spotted a knife deal and although I couldn't tell exactly from the picture what the model was, I decided it had to be a Duke of some kind from the blade length stated. Since the BIN/shipping was only $35 and included a new Gerber Trendy, I went for it.

It just came today and I'm really pleased! It turned out to be an almost mint, 550- known as the King Charles. Since the Trendy goes for about $22 at my favorite online seller (nice little knife too!), I think I got a great deal on the 550.

I'll be taking a bunch of pictures of the 30 or so new Bucks I've picked up in the last month or two and posting them soon. Meanwhile, here's a picture of the "King".

If memory serves me correctly, the model 550 was a Duke (model 500) with a wood inlay that extended to the butt of the knife (no rear bolster). It was a european model named King Charles (presumably named for our then VP of Marketing/Sales, Charlie Gregory).

Those were beautiful knives, with a handle that fit in the hand very nicely.

Pete is correct on the 550 description.
I checked it out and found out that it had a suggested retail of about $71 and we sold about 1600 of them from 1990 to 1996.
Hope this helps.

Score! :)

I'd say that was a GOOD deal too. I don't know that Gerber, but I would be happy just to have that 550 for what you paid.

Congrats!
