After picking up the Plumb boy's axe at the antique mall on Saturday, i should have left well enough alone. But, i wanted to go to the local flea market and see if i could swing a deal on an old vise I saw there last week:

$50, about $1.00 per pound, I think.

On the way back to the truck, I spotted this hatchet on a table with a bunch of old hammers and other tools. For $8.00. Now, i just bought a CT Hudson Bay, a CT boy's axe, and a Plumb boy's axe within the last 3 weeks so did i "need" it? no. The old guy selling them was about 80 yrs old, it was about 95 degrees so i didn't even haggle with him.

no markings, anybody got an idea on maker? seems heaver than a normal Hudson Bay pattern this size.

I like that axe! It has a nice sized poll to balance it out.

I have my Grandfather's vice. Very similar to the one you got there. I use it more than the other newer vices I have in my shop.

you did well. nice looking axe, and who is the maker of the vise?

all good
thanks for posting
