Late yesterday evening, I discovered that I had no water and when I checked the well, I couldn't get the pump to come on. No water all night. I called several well guys and didn't get a call back, and finally tried another one. The young man showed up within a half an hour and found that it was my pressure tank causing the pump to come on and off constantly and the pump overheated and popped something. Anyway, he put me in a new tank, got everything going in a pretty short time. He did his best to give me as big a break on the labor as he could.

When he was getting ready to leave, I asked if he carried a knife and he showed me what he carried and it was some imported something or other.

I gave him one of the Buck 110 Founders Edition as a kind of a tip and he was really stoked, as he'd never had a Buck before. He said he'd be afraid to use it because it was so pretty, but I told him to use it! If you mess it up, drop back by and I'll give you another one.

Way to go Dave, you ruined him. Now all he is going to want are Buck Knives. I hope you are happy. Nice tip.

Dave, What a generous gift to your well technican . Its hard for us to get anybody out for trouble shooting or repairs too . I'm sure he's stoked . DM

Why does Plumberdv call a plumber? Gratuitous acts of kindness improve the planet. Keep up the good work.

Ya just had to go and do it again Dave.Ya went and got another lost soul hooked on BUCK! The rehab centers are full and overflowing already.First it's a 110,that's how it all starts.Let's hope he don't get hooked on PARADIGM!:thumbup:

He was just a really nice young man, and he saved me some money. I just felt like he deserved something. It's a funny thing, my son asked me why I had bought so many of those Founders Editions, and here's a great use for them. They make great gifts and it doesn't break the bank to give them.:)

He may or may not get the Buck bug, but at least he has one good knife now!

AND, if you ever need work again, I am sure he will remember that knife! ;)

Dave.

Get some 300s or small Vantages for regular tips, keep the 110s for nights and weekends. My mailman gets a yearly Christmas Buck, bet no one it town has their mailman get out of his van, walk up the driveway and come to and wait at the door to give me my (knife) packages.......300Bucks

That was a very nice gesture, Dave. The gift honors the giver and says a lot about a man.

I carried mail in El Paso for 35 years then retired and now I carry a Glock for a living. I did what ever it took to make sure my customers got their parcels. One time Xmas day landed on a Sunday and they let me go in and deliver parcels. It was funny,I surprised a lot of people that day.I got my share of tips but never a Buck Knife, way to go 300.

Nicely done "Plumberdv"!!! :) I have been giving away a few NIB SAK's as of late and it's always amazing to see the receivers reaction when you give them a good knife. :D

Great story Dave. Just another point proven about Buck Collectors, you guys are all really true class acts & genuinely good folks.

Very generous and a class act Plumberdv. That guy will remember you for a long time.

I love hearing stories like that. Thanks for sharing. It's cool to wonder where a knife like that will journey to and how it will be used. I'm sure for as long as he carries it he'll remember your kind act.

Thats a great tip, you'll have electricians, roofers and every other kind of contractor showing up at your door here pretty soon:)
