I was going to wait to ask this question till more HEST got out there, but Im dying to know everyone's thoughts...

As always this would be my general bush craft knife used with my Izula and a folder.

RC-4.

HEST is a good knife, but I'd go with the RC-4 because it's larger and you already have the 'zula to compliment the larger blade.

rc4 unless your replacing your izula... i kept the rc5 and izula a pair the hest taking over the izulas edc duties.

RC-4 for sure.

The HEST is a neat little knife, but it's not designed for bushcraft use. Could you use it like that? I guess so, but an RC-4 or RC-6 is the better way to go.

I don't see the hest as bushcraft knife at all. Like Rotte says it is not it's intended purpose. (one of these days I will find something that I dissagree with him on...:) )

The hest looks to be like a great EDC suburban knife IMO.

A bushcraft knife should be a tool that is comfortable to use for long periods of time; in a variety of different grips, and also cuts wood really well. Atleast thats the way I see it....

If its those two knives you're choosing from, then RC-4 all the way.

I havnt got my HEST in yet, so I cant really compare them, but I can say for sure that the Rc-4 is an awesome knife.

I just got my RC4, and I have to say it's the one. From the pics I've seen the HEST looks to be more on par with a RC3 more so than an Izula. Like tonym said, suburban knife. That's not a knock against the HEST in any way. I will get one eventually...

I figured that was the answer... I shall continue on my trajectory for the acquisition of an RC4.

I would definitely choose the RC 4. It is the one that I first got, and I love it.

I have not gotten my HEST yet, but I think it is more fair to compare it to RC 3, which then makes it more of a every day knife. Which for me is around the house, fishing, gardening...etc. but then again what the hell do I know:confused:
