Yeah, I think I made a big mistake buying a Busse.
I made it quite a while on this board without wandering into the Busse forum. Yeah, yeah, INFI this and INFI that I hear. High prices I hear.
So dummy me, I take a look-see. Just happen to stumble across a thread with a picture of a Hellrazor. OK, it's the sexiest piece of steel I've ever seen. I have to have one.
This would be the first blade I bought because it looked cool. Oh, I tried to justify it as a camp knife. But I, and everyone else, knew I wanted it because it looks cool. So, I bought one off the exchange. This one to be exact.
I just got it today, and what can I say? I'm screwed.
I get the thing out of the box, and I haven't been able to let it go since. Now I know what people meant calling it a fighting knife. It's a heavy knife, but balanced so it's very nimble in hand. At first grasp, it started whispering about the need to go kill something. I envision dogs barking the smell of sweat and mud, and the HR plunging to the kill on a nice feral hog. Oh yeah, this wasn't made to chop wood and slice veggies, it's meant to draw blood.
But, having no blood to draw but my own, I had to test it out on plant matter. I just got it, so extensive tests have not been done.
Soft plants? Flick of the wrist, not a problem.
Fuzz sticks? Not as easy as some of my other knives, but does just fine.
Chopping small diameter (<.5") one snap, done.
Chopping medium diameter (.75" - 1.5") OK, but not my third choice.
Chopping bigger stuff? Not balanced for it, no good.
Didn't try batoning.
Wouldn't shave hair, but made nice, fine curly slices of paper. Could use some smoothing of the edge probably, but is more than sharp enough as is.
Yeah, I'm screwed. All the way home, I was thinking about what the next piece of INFI I'm going to blow a hole in my wallet with.
