Yeah, I think I made a big mistake buying a Busse.

I made it quite a while on this board without wandering into the Busse forum. Yeah, yeah, INFI this and INFI that I hear. High prices I hear.
So dummy me, I take a look-see. Just happen to stumble across a thread with a picture of a Hellrazor. OK, it's the sexiest piece of steel I've ever seen. I have to have one.

This would be the first blade I bought because it looked cool. Oh, I tried to justify it as a camp knife. But I, and everyone else, knew I wanted it because it looks cool. So, I bought one off the exchange. This one to be exact.
I just got it today, and what can I say? I'm screwed.
I get the thing out of the box, and I haven't been able to let it go since. Now I know what people meant calling it a fighting knife. It's a heavy knife, but balanced so it's very nimble in hand. At first grasp, it started whispering about the need to go kill something. I envision dogs barking the smell of sweat and mud, and the HR plunging to the kill on a nice feral hog. Oh yeah, this wasn't made to chop wood and slice veggies, it's meant to draw blood.

But, having no blood to draw but my own, I had to test it out on plant matter. I just got it, so extensive tests have not been done.
Soft plants? Flick of the wrist, not a problem.
Fuzz sticks? Not as easy as some of my other knives, but does just fine.
Chopping small diameter (<.5") one snap, done.
Chopping medium diameter (.75" - 1.5") OK, but not my third choice.
Chopping bigger stuff? Not balanced for it, no good.
Didn't try batoning.

Wouldn't shave hair, but made nice, fine curly slices of paper. Could use some smoothing of the edge probably, but is more than sharp enough as is.

Yeah, I'm screwed. All the way home, I was thinking about what the next piece of INFI I'm going to blow a hole in my wallet with. :D

Welcome !!! :)

Congrats man !!! That was a great deal ... The hell razor may not make a good all arounder but is still a sweet blade...

What can I say INFI is sweet .. Now you need to get a big chopper like the NMFBM to really feel and see the advantages of infi .. .

Fourth from the top is my favorite fighter , "BARF"

For a all purpose infi blade I highly recommend the original Satin Jack. If ya can get your paws on one go for it. It is by far my favorite all purpose Busses.
I can use it as a steak knife for dinner and then go out anf chop down a tree. The conxex edge seems to resharpen itself also when under heavy use

I know how you feel. I just got my Skinny Ash in the mail the other day. It has been riding horizontally in the small of my back ever since...except when it is being tested.:D I can see a lot of money being spent in the future. My wife already rides me about my S&W addiction, now I'll have to hear it over this too. The only way I can win the battle is to say, "At least I ain't smokin it up like the crackheads"

Nice buy, I keep a HR in one of my BOB's with a Maxpedition sheath. I really like it for an all around knife.

Getting out of Busse knives is akin to getting out of a gang. There is really only one way out, and I'm betting you know exactly what I mean by that. ;)

Two words.

Check Mate

or is that one word???

either way your are done for. :D

Congrats!

My favorite part of the HR is the name...too cool....:D

That is one special Hellrazor. It has made it way around on this forum. I was the last owner of it. I had got it from MikeyMoto. That is a way cool sheath he made for it. I hope you really enjoy that beauty. Go out and beat her up a little.

nice. the HRs are friggin awesome. if you thin and then convex the edge a bit, it makes a fine chopper for its size.

Welcome! I, too, was impressed with the HR, despite the fact that i normally don't even carry a blade that size. When I head to the woods, I normally prefer a fixed blade about 4.5 to 5", then a big chopper. It could be BM, Basic 9 or other knife about that size, a machete, hatchet or even an axe. But there's something about the HR...i really like it anyway. I got nothing against it's looks, but for me it's more related to the feel of it...anyway, good choice, but i agree that now ya need a big chopper.

Boy, you guys are a big help. . .
"Man, I don't know if I should be doing this, it's like an addiction."
"I know, I feel for you. . .Hey! look at my stash. . ." :D

Congrats on a great blade. So what's next ? ;)

I'm not much for the smaller blades (yet), I see a lot of iterations of the Battle Mistress on the exchange, so it'll probably be one of them.
