So anyway I own two spyderco schempp rocks now and I want to have them be incredibly high performance when I use them. Sharp but can baton and cut rope and just go on and on. Thing is I took the vg-10 one to 30 degrees with my wicked edge and I believe that was a mistake. What do you guys think the best geometry for bladesports would be for a recurve kukuri looking thing like the picture below?

30dps is thick enough. You're fine. The only time I get chipping on VG10 is when I take it to, like, under 10 dps, no micro. Besides, if it chips, it's gonna be tiny, and then you'll know to just back it off a bit, or slap a micro on there. S'all good, man. Go forth and chop

vg10 and h1 rolls when I push it, but if you do bladesports at 30 I'm guess I'm golden. I always think there's some magic angle for bladesports but alright. By 30 I mean 15 as side though. Should have told you that's what I meant because 30 a side would be a very durable axe.

Whoops, yeah, I knew what you meant. I have gotten into the habit of saying 30dps when I mean 30 inclusive. I don't know why. Anyway, yeah, to be clear, I believe you're good to go at 15dps/30inclusive. I have whaled on my Fallkniven F1 in VG10, and I took that thing to about 20 degrees inclusive with a micro and I still have yet to have an issue
